If you have a cell phone, you can even skip the phone.
TV -- broadcast is free. Cable probably starts at $30 / month and goes up from there. |

I'm in Mass, Boston, so forget about it, the cost of living here is the highest in the country so if I gave you my stats they would do you no good. Giving someone who lives in Texas the cost of oil to heat your house from October to May is pointless. |

I have to agree with the others who've answered your question. It really depends. If you do look at renting, ask what utilities are included in your rent. Usually garbage and water are included while electricity, phone, tv, internet is paid by the renter. I lived in California and paid about $60 - $80 for a 400 sq. ft apartment (electric heat, no air conditioning, no washer/dryer in the unit). I've also lived in the upper midwest and paid $40-50/month for electricity for a 1400 sq ft apartment with a window unit air conditioner, 3 bedroom, 2 bath with washer/dryer in the unit. If you buy a house, you'll have to pay for your own water and trash along with the others like electricity, phone, tv, internet, etc. |

it depends on the area and the numbers of beds u want. i work in a rental office. and for a 1 bed right now its $695, usually 730. for a 2 bed it's $875.00 and were still like the cheapest in the area. Our apartments pay the water and garbage. everything in the apartments are electric which is what the tenant pays. if you are smart about turning ur stuff off when ur not home then its no more then $50 a month and maybe like another 25 just incase. Depends on where you live... How big the space is & how many things you have running all the time.
If you are conservitive (aka turn lights off when you leave rooms, etc) for Entergy it is around $100.00 - $150.00 per month. ( We pay $80-$90 but we are in a brand new trailer and they have "new" entergy efficient units) My sis pays $120.00 at her apt (& they are old apts)
Of course I know people who pay more.. if they use a LOT of electricty.
Also if the aplances are old it will cost you more to run them.. newer one are more cost efficeint.
TIP: If you ahve a choice between Entergy & Demco./. Demco is supposedly a good bit cheaper than Entergy...
Water will only run you about $10 or $11. per month.
We have cell phones with AT &T and its like $80 a month.
Go to some phone companies websites to see the promos in your area. Sometimes you can get a "BUNDLE" Where you get phone,cable /satellite & internet for a discounted price for getting them all together.. try www.cox.net , www.bellsouth.net or any other phone company you know in your area jsut search them on google.
Other bills to think about (Some of which you my already be paying) you probably already paying for

of course RENT :-)
Trash pick up ( usually taken care of my Landlords, if not it's just a few buck every couple months...

Obviously this can vary drastically depending on the size of the apartment, what floor the apartment is on, what weather is like in you area, how well insulated the apartment is, how conservative you are with heat & electricity, etc. The easiest way to find out is ask the land lord or the current tennants.
If you live in a climate with drastic temperature changes, you can go on a budget plan with your heating/cooling company so that you pay the same amount every month in the summer and winter.
Typically, for a 1-bedroom apartment in a 4-season climate, I would say about $200-$300 for bills.

There isn't really a straight answer for your question. It all depends on where you live, how big the place is, how many people are in the home, and the company you use for phone, tv, and internet. I recommend doing some research before you sign a lease. You don't want to sign a binding contract and then find out that you can't afford rent and all the other expenses at the same time. |

Where you live totally matters. You can call the apartment complex and ask the manager how much utilities are a month (in general). The apartment I lived at it was $100 (in California).
For phone, TV, etc go online to comcast.com or att.com and you can check out the plans and see how much it is in your area.
What I did (I'm obsessed with budgeting LOL) was open up Microsoft Excel and make a list of things I had to pay for and the costs of each to find out how much I'd need a month, and whether renting or buying was a better option. You can go to http://www.mortgage-calc.com/ they have lots of calculators to see how much money you'd need.

Depending on where you live is semi-crucial.
Here is what I used to pay for San Jose,Ca ( a very high priced area)
Electricity & gas- $75 a month
Water- $30 bi monthly
Basic Tv- $30
Basic No frills phone- $35
So I would estimate anywhere between $150- 200 depending on your location.

If you are single: cell phone = $50 monthly, electricity = $50 to $80, cable tv = $25 to $50, internet service = $25 to $50 and gas = $15 to $25.
It all depends on how heavy of a user you will be. It also depends on where you live. You should ask a friend or relative that lives in your area.
Based on the above figure, I think you need to spend at least $150 or $180. If you don't cook often, don't sign up for gas service.
It's expensive to live alone, it's always better to share a place with someone trust worthy.
