How much can a lanlord be sued for?
i had signed a lease for an apartment at a complex on my college campus.....I was supposed to move in during august but the building wasnt completed that time and we were told it would take a couple of days.....it has been three months and the building has still not been completed....I wanted to sue my landlord for making us sign the lease even though they knew that the building was not going to be completed......does anyone have any idea how to go about it and how much can i sue them for

Did you pay any money to him? Did you have any additional costs for not being able to move in at the specified time? I think those are things you could sue for.

It would be hard to sue him - the person offering the contract can end it in any time, and you cannot prove that he knew indefinitely that the building work would not be completed. Go to a solicitor and see if you really want to pursue this, i am sure they will find a way to get you some compensation. I do agree with you that you should be able to claim.

Small claims court, and you can sue for what you have paid landlord and also what you have had to pay in order to have living arrangements while current apt. is not livable.
