How much land do we own down (depth)?

Technically just the first few inches. so they could drill for oil in your garden as long as they put the top soil back. And I think the crown has rights to any 'treasure' found under your garden as well.

depends on what your deed says. Someone can own the land, while someone else owns the mineral rights. So for example if that where the case, and you suddenly found gold, the gold would actually belong to the owner of the mineral rights, not the land owner.

In the United States, if you are the fee owner, that is, you own the fee simple title to the property, then you also own everything under the soil.

In some other countries (mostly in Europe), it is common for the government to own anything that is below the surface of the soil.

jaha
you dont own the land in depth..,
if there are some minerals or any sort of oil on your land.., Govt will take it up and give you some money for the land or give you other land

The Crown or government doesn't own the mineral rights. You will find they are owned by some lord or the other. If you look at very old maps they are anointed with the lords name. However, some time ago a guy near St Bees found something on his land and a lord stepped in and said it was his, the guy took it to court and the judgement was ruled in his favour setting a precedence. These titled people have more than we ever will but the greedy b@tards still want more.

Depends on what it says in your deed. Most deeds now days grant the land owner only that which he can walk on. Anything beneath the land, mineral rights. water rights, etc. remain the property of the government or other entity.

thats interesting-it ought to be way way down

You probably don't own the mineral rights. How far down do you wish to go and for what reason?

To the core.
