Hello
I work for housing Benefits and have done for 10 years and to be honest the best thing to do is to ask your local benefits how much they would pay on avarage, the problem is the amount of rent will vary depending on where you live and the condition of the property.
Find a place that you like but before you sign anything go to your local council and ask for a Pre Tenancy Determination (PTD) this will tell u the maximum benefit you can get on that property any thing over that you will need to pay yourself, for example if you find a property for £100 per week, if the rent officer says you can have a maximum of £100 per week, you will need to pay the other £50 yourself. Although you may have to wait a few days as these decisions are not made by councils but are sent to a rent officer to decide. Good Luck

my daughter and her husband and little boy are on incapacity and disability and they have a lovely 2 bed house which is rent paid for by the council - I assume you are on your own? if so they may not pay out on a 2 bed to start with - best to be upfront with them and go to the local housing office to start with taking all your paperwork with you incl proof of income as they will want to photocopy it all. that depends on the rent that is to be paid, and whether its council or private, also what area you are in, you need add more details for a better answer, i live in reading, and on top of what we get from the DSS we have to pay another £100 a month, but as i said it depends on a lot of things |

You will have to ring them to find out to be honest. Speak to them directly - the regulations keep changing so fast it is hard to keep up.
It will (or may) also have to take into consideration any other benefits you get or other income - so an exact figure is impossible to give you. |

Go to your local council and ask for a pre-tenancy determination. The amount you will be able to receive will depend on what they consider to be 'fair rent' in your area for a property of that size as well as your income. You could also try www.entitledto.co.uk and enter a rent that you find on a possible property and it will tell you, however I'm pretty sure that you'll get the maximum possible (i.e. full rent). |

The rent is actually paid by housing benefit's...you fill in a form with the rent details and an outside commitee decides if it is fair...as long as it is not rdiculous they will pay it all... |

The DSS doesn't pay anything they don't have their own mney. People like me who work and pay taxes pay it.
pop out kids you can't afford, don't worry us mugs will keep paying.
