18 indeed. Your majority.

In any cases, you will need a deposit to buy the property.

For the loan, you will need to have a property (car or house) for a secured loan, or at least a job for a personal unsecured loan.

As lenders are now extremely worried. Having worked for at least 3 years, and been at the same address for at least 3 years...are good things to have when applying for mortgage or loan.

So, in theory you have more chance on getting a loan or mortgage if you are 21 than 18.

Like someone said, be extremely careful with what you do, and read ALL the contract. If not sure on any things ASK.

18 but the majority of mortgage lenders require at least one applicant to be 21 or over or to have a guarantor.

I think it's 18. I think the basic requirements are a deposit, work history and ability to pay a mortgage or loan, rather than age.

18 years old. Also you have to have two years of good rental history, two years of good credit history and two years of employment history to qualify for a loan.

I was 19 when we bought our first home, my parents were a reference for rental history because I did pay them rent. I had a credit card at 16 in my name so that was good, and then I had a job for 2 years as well. Good luck with all of it, the process is a pain... but worth it.

You have to be old enough to sign a legal contract, and that means you must be 18 to buy property or get a loan.

In the Uk you have to be 18 to apply for a mortgage and a loan. You would be considered a high risk though as you are asked to prove your income. You may also have to have a guarantor.
