SG | How should I apologize to my landlord? |
There have been a series of unlucky events which have resulted in my ticking him off: lease issues, repair orders, car's battery died. Tonight, Christmas Day, at 11 p.m. I had to buzz him because I was locked out. Should I get him something to say sorry or is it really not that big of a deal? |

Being a landlord myself, I recommend NOT getting him something. A simple card wishing him a Happy New Years including an apologetic hand written note may be good. However, the best course of action would be to try and contact him as little as possible. If something minor happens or needs repaired, let him know you did it yourself. This will go a long way. He will see you are trying rather than being one of those tenants that are always on him. |

It never hurts to give. Get him something anyway. Try a 10$ girft card for someplace local and a nice card saying how he is a nice landlord. :] |

repair orders cant be ignored no matter the day of the week.... when you have a major problem like the hot water heater goes out or the stove is broken, or you have leaks in the roof these are major. if your faucet is dripping you can live with it till after the holidays.... or fix it your self.
if your car battery died that's your problem not his, yes apologize for that one... if you were locked out of your home that is your problem and you should have made sure you had a spare key made and hidden out side somewhere where you know where it is....or pay a lock smith to get you in... apologize to your landlord for that one too....
dont bug the heck out of him unless you need him for a real emergency...

as ny dad being a landlord i know what a tough job it can be how ever no one once has ever bothered to get him a gift so i would say yes give hima gift it will make his day and probadly chang the way he feels about youy |

Car battery...not part of his problem and any help is a favor.
Lock out...can be considered as a 'pain in the a** tenant, given the fact that you locked yourself out.
Ya...it's better that you apologize to him for his 'above and beyond' service to you. A token gift is in order for the battery jump. That could have cost you $50 if you didn't have him to help you. As far as the lock-out is concerned, he isn't your parent to get you out of a jam. |
