How to get House value?
II own a house that I am currently renting out.
Can some one recommend a web site where I can get an estimate of house value? I tried Google, and all the web sites I visit want to know contact info, etc. I am not currently trying to sell the house (so I don't want any one calling me). I was just curious to know its value. And I am looking for only an approximate number.

Thanks

Zillow is worthless and Housevalues is going to make you put all your info in then an agent will contact you.

Contact an appraiser in your area and have them appraise it.

You can go to Realtor.com or any major realtor website in your area to see what houses in that area are selling for. In Atlanta, our newpaper list recent home sales once a week. IF you are in a major market, you may want to explore this as well

hirebookkeeper
Go to realtor.com and search for your zip code and similar houses. This will give you asking prices only.

Try looking at other houses that are for sale close to the one you want to know the value of. Look for the same size and enmities of your house. See what others are selling them for. Or call an appraiser. Best advice I can give.

If there are any other houses for sale in that area, call the realtor and ask what it is selling for. You know, act like you are interested in buying. Or look for that paper they put out in front of the house that tells how much it is selling for. You can see how that house compares to yours in size, etc. and estimate a price.Or look in the paper for houses for sale, that are close to your area and size of house, etc. and estimate a cost.
