Either you move or you evict him. Tell him you will report him to police. The police can come into your house if someone reports the smell of marijuana in the area and you call them. It would be perfectly legal and they do not need a search warrant. |

Call the cops, and have him escorted off of the property and given a pick up date for his belongings. Thats your best bet. If someone reports it to the cops or landlord, everyone in the house/apartment will go down....so Kick the looser out! If he won't go willingly call the cops...seriously. |

I am amazed at how few people said call the cops.
If your roommate has marijuana in your home you can also be charged with drug possession. Go to the police and explain the problem, give them permission to search your unit.
This should not become the landlord's problem. |

Wow, do you feel like going to jail? I think just by being in the same house where there is pot, you could potentially be putting yourself at risk--I would tell the landlord on the sly and ask that he not tell your roommate you did it. If you think I am wrong about the jail part, I guess you could ask a person who is more familiar with law. |

Give him/her fair warning and then call the police, let them in and show them where the drugs are.
If you don't, when you do finally get that knock on the door from the police - and it WILL come - you ALL will be arrested and subject to IMMEDIATE eviction while you're still trying to make bail. You may come home to a locked, empty apartment. |

Have the person kicked out immediately. For two reasons I can think of.
#1 He will probably if not already be fired from his job. Employers will do a random drug test and he could get fired. The guy will not be able to pay his share of the rent or utilities and you may have to cover for him. Valuables will start to disappear because he is going to need to get his fix.
#2 If he gets caught using marijuana in your house. He will be evicted along with you and the others. Same as for getting caught by the police, he goes down you will go down with him. Tell the landlord immediately so he or she was warned.
If the smell gets into your clothes it will send red flags making cops and your employers suspicious like you are doing it.
The guy sounds like a loser. Don't associate with people like that. |

Well, you said that "it will do no good if I say anything to this person." That sounds like they are the kind of person who do what they want and aren't really going to listen to anyone else. So, I guess the best way to try to persuade them to stop is to try to talk to them about it as it relates to their own self interest. Try explaining to him that the landlord could kick him out if he finds out about this, and he's going to be SOL if he doesn't have a place to live. If you make it sound like you're looking out for him, rather than attacking him, he's going to be less defensive and more likely to listen to you. |

Tell the landlord
He might give him a warning. He won't tell him you complained, it's anonymous. OR he will kick him out. |

I've been there as a landlord ... and if roommates come to me about their problem, would have a chat with the drug user and tell them to get out before I call the cops.
If I find out from the cops instead of the tenants ...everyone is going to be evicted, and in this state, it can be IMMEDIATE. |

The other roommates and you need to get together and ask this roommate to leave. He is in violation of the lease. You are all in violation of the lease. When the landlord finds out, you could all be kicked out. |

Ask him to stuff a dryer sheet into an empty toilet paper roll tube thingy- you know the cardboard thing, and blow the smoke into there. That will keep it from making everything else smell bad. |
