First of all, it would be useful to know where you live.

In the UK, go to
http://www.dwp.gov.uk/lifeevent/benefits/housing_benefit.asp

In the US, go to
http://www.hud.gov/offices/pih/programs/hcv/

In Canada, go to
http://www.cmhc-schl.gc.ca/en/co/prfinas/

In Australia, go to
http://www.gov.au and click on the appropriate province and search for "housing assistance"

Yes, the local council is the place to go if you are in the UK. They will be happy to help.

there's information on the department for work and pensions website.

i think you can get info from your local jobcentre, but the link below's pretty comprehensive.

Go to your local office, ask for a form, fill it in, hand or send it back then wait for an answer.....I'm sorry, I dont see why you have to ask this question. Common sense thats all.

Pop down to the local council in person & pick up all the forms you need to fill out before being eligible for help,it would help to have a letter from your landlord explaining how much he is charging for rent as well.

You are entitles to crap, who do you think pays for your so called entitlements? we the working people Thanks for take from are children.

I've seen advertised somewhere a housing benefits calculator website. You enter your details and it tells you how much you are entitled to. Being the way I am though I would say get another job if you have to. I have two jobs and my husband works all the overtime he can to get by as we wouldn't dream of going on benefits. It's taxpayers money not the governments. Good luck with whatever you do anyway.

Why are you looking to suck off government benefits? Can't make it on your own? Not smart enough?

Go to the dwp website and click on the links.
Many of the forms are downloadable to enable you to complete before you go.

You may not be entitled to anything as it will depend on your income etc.
Don't cheat. You would eventually be caught out
