Typically condos have very little resale value. Houses on the other hand appreciate with the rate of inflation, plus any improvements you do to it. You have answered the other pros and cons. There are real good deals in Florida. Get with a good agent, and go for a foreclosure. If you pay cash, you will buy a house that is half what it was a year ago. Condos on the beach have held their prices good, but condos off the beach have really been beat up. Take your time to look at both houses and condos. If you don't look at 50 each, you have more money than brains. Looking at 50 you will find out more about location as you will the home you buy. You will find it fun. |

A condo sound so awesome I have lots of friends in Malibu Ca, that have condos and they are the best shelters ever! a house can be a good investment but it also depends on the area, If you buy a house make sure that it's in a very nice neighborhood. It sounds so interesting for someone your age to buy a home at that age! And you know what else would look good in your parking lot a good car! so make sure you have some left over money to buy yourself a hot car! Well bud best of luck! |

Buy a house in a very good neighborhood. In real estate, the location is the number one priority. A house compared to Condo appreciate in value faster and easier to sell when the time come to sell. Condo is like living in an apartment complex since you don't own the land. You pay management fees which you have no control over on the fee increases. You have to abide by the rules established by the management as well as by the condo's homeowners' association. They can rule you in your own home such as no smoking and no loud music (not your standard but others' standard). They even say something about the parking space. You don't have the privacy like you would in a house.
I was once a Condo owner. When I got just sick over somebody telling me what I can do or cannot do in my own place, I tried to sell it. It took a long time to sell even it was located by the lake in a very nice neighborhood. The appreciation of the value was not what I expected either. I swore then that I never buy a Condo. Ask people who own condo. They pretty much tell you the same thing. |

In my opinion I think you should buy a condo. You're still young and I don't think you should have to worry about paying a huge mortage for a house. You could probably get foreclosed considering today's economy as well.
Like you said, condo's are great because you don't have to take care of things outside it like raking or shoveling. Condos aren't small either, they're pretty big and are great looking.
If you end up deciding to buy a house, maybe one next to a beach or somewhere with good scenery and stuff would be a good idea. |

Considering your age you its ideal for you to have a condo. As what you said there would be free fixing and cleaning and everything you need is in there already provided. Condos have better sites and more accessible. It is also cheaper.
Talking about the value of money a house would be great. Its a big step towards preparing yourself for family life in the near future. Houses have also bigger floor planning and you can create your own design. Bigger car parks.
I suggest have a condo that has garden, gym, pools, free wifi, and all those facilities. |

I'd say that given the current real estate market, it'd be better to get into a house, especially if you're planning on holding onto it for a while. Houses right now are at record lows, and once the economy rights itself (which it will do eventually) then the prices will rise again. Especially in Florida you could end up making a lot more by investing in a house instead of a condo. You'd have to mow your own lawn, but to me at least the pros of owning a house (land, privacy, not having to be in what is essentially a fancy apartment block) outweigh the cons. Especially since you have to pay for the services that come along with your condo. |
