I don't know how old you are but bar work/cleaning/waitress jobs were always easy for me to come by. Phone your local pubs/restaurants and ask them if they need anyone. As for your parents, good on them, it'll help you when you're older trust me. They're teaching you a valuable life lesson.
P.s. I got rejected by mcdonalds when I was 18 lol.

No you can not claim rent from housing. Relatives don't count as Landlords. You will have to give them some of your Jobseekers allowance or find a job! |

All the Supermarkets I shop in have vacancies, as do DIY stores. Try harder. Don't turn into a parasite. |

If your parents want rent, even though you aren't working you should go to the social security office and tell them. They will give you an application form for a council house and more advice.
To be perfectly honest, you really can't live on JSA, it simply isn't enough. You could take your chances by scamming the system, but in the long term you are better off getting a career. Speak to the people at the JobCentre about an apprenticeship... I'm guessing you aren't very old. They will give you advice on finding work and give you a chance to learn some new skills at the same time. If you aren't a pacifist, you could join the forces, the money is much better.
No matter how often you are rejected, you owe it to yourself to keep trying. Try to find a career doing what you enjoy, that way, your skills will develop faster and you will be more motivated. |

I'm assuming you're not in high school.
Keep looking for a job. Consider college. Or move in with some roommates. Or compare how much your parents are going to charge for rent to what you'd have to pay living on your own (especially without roommates). It's probably a bargain.
After my brother and I got out of college, we had to start paying our third of the household expenses (utilities, rent, groceries, etc) to my mother -- roughly $300 a month. That was world's better off than my grandfather -- his mother died when he was in his preteens so he had to quit school and get a job to help support the family.
Take a look at what you have going for you in your situation and try to appreciate how truly good you have it. Look into at all the options and opportunities available to you in this society and move forward.
And don't fall victim to comparing your situation with anyone else you perceive as having it better than you because there are plenty who envy YOUR position. We're all richer than we know. |

its not called rent it is called board you have freeloaded for long enough and your parents can no longer be expected to keep paying for your heating lighting washing cleaning feeding and a roof over your head. Try and leave home and see if you can live on the meagre amount of money you parents are asking you to pay. Do you not watch the news or read the papers everything is going up in price your parents probably just want you to contribute a small amount in relation to the running of a household. Get a job and start contributing to the household |

You are receiving JSA so you should be contributing to the running of the household, i.e. gas electric etc. You wont get 'help with rent' as contributing to your parent's household is not rent it is called 'board' and everytone should start paying towards their home when the reach 18 or start working whichever comes soonest.
As for work, especially a this time of year, there are jobs out there - dont be too choosy because work is work is money and with the state of the economy anything is better than nothing. |

If they're charging rent they're landlords. Just make sure they draw up some kind of contract on paper. If jobs are that bad try taking a college course at a community college then apply for a work-study job....they're tax free |

Welcome to life, and learning about responsibility. I was paying $25 a week to my parents back in the 70's. If you are over 18 why should you have a free ride with no responsibility associated with living costs? Accept it and learn from it. Do you figure on leaching from them for the rest of whatever? What happens when they are no longer there? If McDonalds rejected you then hate to say it is time to reflect on yourself, your education and where you are going in your life |
