I'm thinking of selling my house on eBay as a raffle £100 a ticket is it a good idea.?

simon_srwp
This was done a couple of months ago by a couple who had their house on the market for a couple of years. I think they charged £10 a ticket and sold 30,000 tickets.

Firstly, £100 is too much to gamble - I think at least.
Secondly, ebay don't have a system or the regulations in place to enable you to do this.

You could try it, just not via ebay.

Nev
I think it has been done before but not on e bay. Sounds ok but not sure that they will accept it as a gamble...

I would go over this with a real estate attorney first. Also, if you are holding a mortgage you likely need their approval.

no.........what if only two people but tickets?

OK so you get 3 takers and eBay pulls the auction. So then you draw the raffle and someone gets your house for £100 and you get £300. Sounds a great deal to me, but not a very good one for you.

Of course you could renege on the deal, but don't be surprised if you get the fraud squad knocking on your door.

someone tried this not long ago I remember reading in the paper. She was then prosecuted for breaching lottery/gambling regulations. I seem to remember you have to offer a "no purchase necessary" clause. Best to check with a solicitor first. Good idea though if enough people buy tickets and it all works out. Might be better than hassle of estate agents.

harryhotun
You should check on legality of such a move.

Do you have clear title to the deeds , if not your mortgage company will not be happy , also you will have to provide a structure report as to it condition a solicitors , , man do not even go there even if you could.

no, because if only a few people buy the tickets, than you're stuck with barely any money and no house
