No, it is simply you being gone for 3 days. No breach of anything. Your landlord has some problems, this is not even close to rational. |

No. maybe you should get yourself a lawyer. You were in the hospital, that wasn't your fault. |

If you are still leasing the house and paying on it he has no authority to say that you broke the lease. You have 2 things to back you up Your rent reciepts and your hospital release forms. |

you would have to contact a real estate attorney but leaving for 3 days should not be considered abandonment. |

that would not hold up in court the house was not abandoned. hes not telling you the truth; alledgledy........
you need to find some legal aid in your area;
they deal with this stuff all the time;
try to find the free legal aid perhaps.
good luck. |

It sounds like he is trying to scam you. I'd call an attorney to read over your lease and assert your rights in this situation. |

no. as long as your property was still there. |

There are obviously more details to this that you are not telling. A proper comment can't be formed until you do so. |

Absolutely not, you didn't abandon the house if you were in the hospital. You could take that to court with no problem.
I've never even heard of abandoning a house. I've rented all my life and took vacations galore, I've literally never even heard of breaking a lease by not being in the house 24/7 unless it was in your lease agreement and you were a live-in maintenance person. What is he talking about?
There must be more details than this, it makes no sense that 3 days in the hospital counts as abandonment. |

I wouldn't have thought so, do you have a letting agency you can check with or maybe consult a solicitor. For my contract it states that I cannot leave the house empty for more than 2 weeks at a time, so this is why I doubt three days would be enough for the landlord to accuse you of breaking the lease. If its not in the contract id definitely contact a lawyer. Good luck and hope ya get well soon. |

No not at all. He is trying to pull a fast one.
Your best bet is to go to the Citizens Advice Bureau. They will be able to give you free legal advice. You can find them in your yellow pages and you'll be able to ring now for an appointment. |

That's absolutely crazy. So you are supposed to inform him ahead of time if you get ill or if you have a bad car accident or anything that would cause you to not be home for a few days or he will assume you have abandoned the property and consider it a breech of contract/lease? You need to read over you lease agreement word for word and see what your rights are as the renter. |

thats BS. being in a hospital for 3 days is not abandoning it. you go on vacations longer and THATS not abandoning it. sounds like you're going to need to take this to court. sorry. |

well if you paid for it then WTF..it was only 3 days |

That is not abandonment as long as your rent was paid who cares if your there or not. If you go to rentlaw.com you can choose the state you live in and there is a phone number you can call for each state to ask questions and get advice. They are usually non profit organizations so it should be free. Good luck. |

no you were in the hospital. so what if you wanted to take a vacation your not breaking the lease unless you physically move out. |
|

John C

Is he taking some action? You indicate that he said he would let you out of the lease. Technically, you want to break it, if you asked to get out of it. But if he is trying to keep your deposit or take some other steps, then, fight it. I am assuming you wanted to break the lease and move out. He was premature, but you will be abandoning the house and moving out, right? If he is just saying abandonment and not taking any steps, then who cares? |
