I've got some guy in my office who is yelling at me and the managers are gone how do I handle this?
Ok when the two brokers are gone i am in charge there is a closing going on and the agent from the other office keeps yelling at getting upset at everyone and has now started yelling at me. How do I handle this??

Calmly but firmly tell him that if he doesn't stop shouting the conversation will be over or you will have to call someone to have him removed from the office. No one should have to put up with someone bullying you or the others in your office. If he doesn't stop, pick up the phone and either call the police or someone nearby that you know, who is large and can forcefully remove someone from your office.

You should simply approach your Human Resources representative. They are obligated to resolve such matters in a timely fashion, otherwise you can stake a claim towards the creation of a hostile workplace.

Do you have the ability to call the managers? If so I would call and inform them of what is going on and ask what they reccomend you do. If not then you are on your own and do need to let this person know you will not put up with type of behavior, that it is not professional and you are feeling threatened or uncomfortable.

Sometimes individuals just do not have as strong a hold on emotions as others do. In these cases this person may not realize just how upsetting his behavior is for others. If you can talk to him and tell him his behavior is having an negitive impact on those around him. Sometimes, by letting the individual know what his behavior is causing others will assist him in changing that behavior. Most people are good and really do not wish to harm others.

If it has gone beyond this point, then I do reccomend you call the police. You have a right to be free from abuse no matter if it is the work site or any other place. If you just can not communicate then call and deal with this through somebody who is trained properly to deal with hostile people. Often, doing so will not only let the person know you don't like this behavior but you will take action if he makes it neccasary. This will also show others you are capable of making good judgements and will not allow unprofessional or abusive behaviors around you or those under your supervision.

I had a simular experiance with a co-worker when we were working alone together. I was working in a drug rehab center as a drug and alcohol counseler. He went nutty on me and demanded I sign a paper stating the work conditions were too demanding and unfair. I refused and he first verbally assaulted me and then threatened me with physical harm if I did not comply with his request. He then attempted to lock me out of the building. I used my cell phone to call my supervisor who instructed me to call the police immediantly, which I did. He was escorted off the site. He was later fired.

I understand how unsettling and upsetting this situation is. As stated earlier, if you can call your managers to report and ask for directions. If you can't call the police right away.

Take him to a private area and say assertively,I am sick and tired of your yelling, don't get in my face again.Let him know you mean business

fire_music_bk
By asking questions and making him answer to you why he is yelling. 1st and then tell him when he is ready to talk intelligently and calmly then you will help him then walk away. If he persists this is verbal abuse and call the police and they will help him see the error of his way.

record his outburst. take them to a meeting with the two bosses and tell them how disruptive he is. They will stop it. It is their livelihood at stake as well as the companies reputation.

melspags6
Explain to him that it would be much easier to work things out if he was not so upset and yelling. If he continues, let him know that he can talk to the other brokers when they get back if he is unhappy with your service. Make sure to give the other brokers a heads up on the situation. What ever you do, don't yell back at him as it will only escalate the situation. Good luck!

staple his tounge to the desk, then push a filling cabinet on top of him and then put the phone just out of his reach.

hard to say when I don't know the specifics of the situation. But what I've learned from years of customer service/conflict resolution is...ask them what they would like you to do to fix things.

Sometimes people just want to complain and need to vent when they are upset about something not going their way. When you make them actually stop and think about what they want you to do fix it, it accomplishes 2 things: 1. It shows that you are willing to take action to solve the problem. 2. It gets them to shut up long enough to think of a solution. Usually this calms them down and they don't start yelling again.

Also, all the basic stuff...apologize, ask questions to make sure that you understand exactly why they're upset, ect.

Take it as a learning experience. Some day, you may be the broker and won't have anyone else to handle the situation for you.

Stand up to him, don't take his abuse. I had a girl yesterday trying to confront me over some b/s. She was trying to order me around and tell me what she's not gonna do. We had a big fight and now she doesn't work here anymore. I told her you're not my boss and not in Authority. Then she started putting words in my mouth telling my boss I don't like her. I'm looking at her thinking you got issues. Oh, well
