It might bounce or he might want you to send change and then it will bounce weeks later. |

This is a scam, 12 times out of 10.
Once you cash the check, it will give the person access to your checking account info and you can kiss every dime in your account goodbye. Sure, you may have 0 liability fraud protection through your bank, but it will still be a royal pain in the (word you can't say on yahoo) to straighten everything out.
Only accept cash on the spot, or if someone wants to buy it from another location, post it on ebay and have them bid and pay via pay pal. This gives you protection against scams like this.
DO NOT cash this check. |

This is a scam. Send the check back.
If the snake is gone it is gone, you were taken. |

no. this is a scam. do not cash the check, do not send him money, do not send the snake. he intentionally wrote a check (that will not clear) in the wrong amount. when you send the 2000, he will pretty much get away with your money and have lost none of his own. DON'T DO IT. you can contact the authorities, but I'm not sure there's much they can do. |

Oh, right.
He sent you 1000% more and you don't think something's wrong?
And you have the bright idea that it's his mistake and you'll pocket the money....
In reality, your scammer is going to suddenly "realize" he's made a mistake and ask you to go ahead and cash the check, keep an extra $100 and send him the rest by western union. You decide to play along. Whether you refund him or not, the check will bounce (it was NEVER good) and your bank will expect you to pay them all of the money back plus bounced check charges. |

I work at a bank and hear of this all the time. THIS IS A SCAM!! DO NOT CASH THIS CHECK....DO NOT PUT IT INTO YOUR ACCOUNT. It can take up to three weeks for the check to come back "bad". You will be out this money. All $2200.00 of it! The schemers do this on purpose, finding someone who is desperate for money and oops I sent you too much, send me the difference. Who in their right mind, in this economy would do such a thing?? Think about it, no common sense about that. DON'T FALL FOR IT. TELL THE GUY TO TAKE A HIKE! |

contact the guy and tell him he made a mistake. it's not worth getting in trouble over. and the honesty might score you a reward. |

are you serious?? This is probley a joke but anyway...
Thats the most common scam out there, its been going on for months if not years.
There is NO money, no accountant , the check will bounce and and they will never catch the guy cause he never gave a real name.
So do me a favor and dont send the snake- cause it will sit in a box in some post office for months untill it gets returned and it will surely be dead.
For the love of the darn snake - just send the guy 2 grand- and when the bank wants their money back - its you they will come after cause afterall you are the one who bounced a check. |

If I were you, I wouldnt send the $ 2000 back to him with the snake because it could be scam. If you do, you will be in a lot of trouble and pay back a lot of money to the bank. The best thing to do is ask him to send other one (money order) which it is safe than check. Good Luck! |

why are you asking this question? Honestly, its sad you are even thinking about keeping the money.
It was a mistake. Period. |

If it is a mistake, he would have had to spell out how much money he wrote it for on the second line of the check. If it says "Two thousand two hundred dollars." then it's legit and you can cash it. If it says, "Two hundred dollars." then you need to call him and tell him what happened.
Becasue of fraud, don't deposit it into your checking account, take it somewhere and cash it, then put the cash in your account. |

Hmm I'd try it.. I mean it's not YOUR fault if he f*cked up on a check. Who does that? lol. finders keepers. HE wrote the check, it's HIS money & he shouldve been more responsible and made sure he did it the right way.. go try to cash it.. if he gets in contact with you or something b/c of it then just say its really his fault, if anything just give him the extra 2000 back & keep what you asked for.. seems like a dumb mistake to me though! too bad |

Either he'll get in trouble for bouncing a check or he'll be surprised that he wrote it for $2000 more. The right thing to do is contact him to tell him. It's like stealing otherwise. |

The person who wrote the check can dispute through their bank and could take you to small claims if they can prove that you intended to sell the snake for $200.....But if they spelt out $2200 I would think you were probably selling your snake too cheap and it's really worth that |
