jgm | I am a Realtor and have been feeling very fatigued and unmotivated as of lately, it seems like I am following? |
a viscious cycle of closing 1-3 transactions and falling back on the reserves and only working hard when I begin to have a 3 moth supply of income, what is wrong with me and what can I do to always be consitent and not let money keep me from being great? |
|

I have totally been there.
You know your problem is? It is advertising effectively - You do afew deals then starve then do a few and starve - it is a very viscious cycle. Here is how to overcome it:
You need to go back to real estate 101 and farm on a regular basis, if you farm on a regular basis- business will be regular and continue to grow and expand.
I use www.masteryourmarketing.com as a training aid for my agents and I used to work with the guy over ten years ago.
Make life easier foryourself and farm on a constant basis.

It seems like you are experiencing a "burn out" cycle. You should go back to the time and think what excited you to close that deal or to look for another one. What caused you to be disappointed? Was it a deal that didn't go like you thought it should. Develop that "FIRE" for that sale and to keep looking for another. It's in there! Strike a match and get it burning....Please be honest to yourself and review what's going on. Only you know... |

It sounds like you might be burned out. Are there any training classes or seminars you can take to get yourself motivated again? Have you taken a truly relaxing vacation lately? Maybe you just need some time off. |

There is nothing wrong with you....... It is normal to feel that way. I know what you're feeling based on experience. I am a Mortgage Loan Processor and it is very very very stressful but I learned how to handle it. Here are the things I can share with you. Set your goals........ Think about the things you want to achieve. Think about the things you want to have and you want to give. Once you've thought about all those things grab them and keep them flaming, keep them burning inside of you so that when you wake up everyday you will have the motivation to do what you're good at. Also, make room for improvement. Attend seminars, real estate classes, or even foreign languages. Don't let work rule over you. If the loan doesn't go through, it doesn't go through. Find another seller or buyer. Move on... |

you are not challenged.
put the liquid money in the stock market where you can't get at it easily.
this may motivate you. |

What do you do in your spare time? Yes, you have some. Are you having any fun? Do you enjoy the firm you work with or is it time to make a change? Are you spending at least a week or more annually in a continuing education course? Do you attend your state's or national association of Realtors' convention? If you are affiliated with a franchise or part of a large firm, do you attend their annual conventions? How about the mid-year or quarterly conventions.
Also, how's your health? If you're very fatigued, maybe you should visit a doctor. Some blood lab work and maybe also a stress test might be in order. If all checks out and you're not doing it yet, can you take up biking, running, or anything you'd like, to get the adreneline flowing.
My friend, you're not in a slump YET, but it sounds like bordom is about to get you, just around the corner.
Next, stop acting like you just hit the lottery every time you get a commision check. Haven't you ever lived thru bad times or known someone who has? Put some money in the bank, live on a draw, and hope to retire someday. |

If you really don't like what you are doing, no amount of money will make a difference. If you can sell (and it sounds like you can) you will always have options. Take a look at what else is out there. Maybe you can find something to ignite some passion. |

Maybe its because your line of work is in a slump. Real Estate is at an all time low, and perhaps you are feeling like until the economy gets on track, and things settle down, you are fighting a loosing battle in trying to sell real estate, because fewer and fewer people are buying...
Just a theory... |

sounds like one of two things:
1. burn out: i see this quite often in salespeople. maybe you need to take a break. but, it seems as though you've created built-in breaks, so maybe you'll bust out of it soon.
2. depression: try to take a self-evaluation quiz for depression (they're all over the internet.) if you look at a quiz and the questions seem to be incredibly accurate about your current behavior, maybe you need to seek professional help. |

It appears you have not been asking YOUR SELF the right questions, such as:
~~~What do I really need (not just want).
~~~What activity or interest(s) do I have a PASSION for?(This being one or more that when you are doing it/them, time does not exist and you feel SATISFIED and ready to start another project when one is deemed finished.)
~~~Why do you NOT already KNOW you are Great...with or without money?
~~~Have you been caring for your health physically, emotionally and spiritually the way you KNOW will help you SEE the joy already existing in your life?
Try asking yourself a different question(s). The answers lay within you, not outside of you. Try and remember you are human but unique; talented and strong but vulnerable;and that LIVING is an action word which starts in your now and progresses forward but only as YOU have the courage to see and be who you are.
Blessings and Clarity to You,

Lack of motivation can be a symptom of depression. See the self-assessment checklist at depressionhurts.com to find whether you have other symptoms. Best of luck! |

you need to find fun in what you arr doing to become great. Only if you enjoy your work it will give you extra energy and fresh ideas. Perhaps you do not enjoy all the aspects of being a realtor. You can try either to find all the fun things in your job and get motivated by them (go, discover!) - or - you could consider changing your career. But only if you really worry about that part of not being great.
If ou know a realtor who you admire and who is doing great - seek his/her advice. They may give yo a "speech" and will be fired up after that. Keep going! |

This sounds a lot like burnout. When you aren't working, how are you spending your time? A week or two camping, fishing, hiking, going to the lake...anything but hanging around can work wonders. Check your diet to make sure that it is balanced and not too high in unhealthy stuff, and get a checkup just in case. If you don't feel better after a few little lifestyle adjustments, it might be time to explore new career paths to find something that you love to do. |

It seems you've lost your passion for real estate. Find a passion and go for it. Use that reserve time to try different things that may interest you and spark a desire to work in other fields. |

I think that you've set your goals to low. Wouldn't you like to see where you would be fianancially if you had more listings and closed more sales each month? You may have the motivation once you had the successes. You need to have a taste of it to know! Set your goals higher to test your abilities. See what happens. |
