I am a veteran. I got out of the service in 1990 do I still qualify for a va house loan?

valstpatrick
Depends. Not all veterans qualify. Your discharge status matters. Honorable vs Dishonorable. AND your time served.
Once you are eligible for a VA loan you will ALWAYS remain eligible (even if you NEVER use it)
To find out of you are eligible, you will need to contact the VA and ask for your COE (Certificate of Eligibility) Have you DD214 ready and hurry up and wait =) They usually take 3 weeks depending on your area. If you go down in person, it is faster.

Hope this helps and good luck

You qualify for the rest of your life. The only restriction is that you can't have more than 1 VA loan at-a-time.

rockgirlfury
As a veteran you always will qualify for a VA loan on a house.... You need your DD214. and you can call the VA, and ask them if they need to send you any forms for it, because i believe you need a certificate of some sort, i dont remember last time my husband and i bought VA loan, was a few years back..

Yes, there is no time limit, but it may not always be your best bet. Compare all types of loans and lenders before you decide.

Call VA at 1-800-827-1000 or contact a local lender or real estate professional. Pamphlets available from VA include:

yes you do but you need the entitlement award letter.
make sure you call the VA to obtain a copy...it can take 4-6weeks to receive it. look at the FHA, and MyCommunity programs also.

Only if you are no longer a veteran?!? Yes you do still qualify. Get in touch with the nearest VA and get your eligibility papers sent to you and get going my friend, this is a buyers market in most areas so take advantage of it.

And Thank You for your time in service to the United States of America!
God Bless our Veterans and Active GI's!
Many Thanks!

you certainly do!!!!!

Yes. I got out in 1997 and used mine in 2006. Also, the state that I live in has a "first-time home buyer's" benefit/plan that I would look into using in conjunction with the VA Guaranteed home loan benefit.

For the VA Home Loan benefits, you just need to apply to the Veteran's Administration to get the Certificate. It can also be used more than once, it does not expire after (10) years like the GI bill Benefits do. (Although I understand there are ways to get an exclusion from that expiration)

You will always qualify for a VA loan if you are a Veteran.

raisedbycoyotes
Sure you do! The benefits aren't taken away when your out a certain amount of years. They are there for a ONE time deal though....if you haven't used your VA Loan stuff, go for it!

Q cumber
Call the information desk at your designated VA.

As long as you were discharged honorably, and have not used your benefit - you are. For details contact the VA.

You would have to qualify for a mortgage loan, but you are eligible for a va loan.
