You'll get better answers than this, but the "old" owners have no right to ask you to move just because they want to sell the house. If they sell the house, your lease goes with it, and they should have disclosed it to the new owners (doesn't sound like they did). You are in a very strong position here...you can refuse to move, and the owner can do nothing about it...or you could even offer to allow the owner to buy you out of your lease. If I were in your shoes, I would let your current landlord know that you have a one year lease, and you have no intentions of going anywhere. That he has a buyer that wants to move in during your lease is his problem, not yours. |

The answer depends on the law of the state you're in - but it also depends on the contract you signed. You said the contract was for 12 months, but is it month-to-month or is it for a year and then month-to month? If it's month to month, the owners only have to give you 30 days notice in most jurisdictions. If your lease is for a full year, then you need to check with a local lawyer. Asking an attorney doesn't have to be a nightmare - check with a local law school for a clinic that might handle rent court or rental laws. Good luck! |

Read your lease. If it gives the owners the right to kick you out with a 30 day notice, then yes you must move. If it's just a regular one year lease, you get to live there until July. The lease goes with the house. If the seller did not inform the new buyers of this then the new buyers will have grounds for a suit against the sellers, but they will not have any grounds to kick you out. See if the seller will buy you out.
If the buyer shows up at the house, be sure to have a copy of your lease - it may keep things from getting nasty.
No intelligent buyer who expects to move in at closing should close prior to seeing the property empty.... |

If you have a lease until July, let em take you to court. They can't throw you out. You have a contract. They can however BUY you out. |

if you signed a 12 month lease then you do not have to move unless there is something in your lease that says other wise.if you are being force to move then the landlord should be financially assisting you.he can not just throw you out.he would have to evict you and that can take a very long time and court.so i would think that he would rather help you in finding a place or assisting you financially rather than throwing you out becouse when feb.rolls around you do not have to leave as long as you have a lease.talk with him. |

You will have to move. The reason is this; the new owners want to live in the home they purchased.
This is the exception to the rule. The normal rule is no they can't just kick you out. However, if the new owner wants to live there, that supercedes any lease. |

The new owners are in control, and you would need to move, so start looking now for another home, aside from the classifieds, check with real estate agencies, they not only sell houses, but also rent homes too. Best Wishes and Happy Holidays. |

when the home you are renting is bought by new owners they have they legal right to terminate your lease. |

You have to move if they want it for their residence. It is their property. They just can't kick you out to rent it to someone else. |
