With your credit history and income, you might as well just rent a bigger apartment instead of buying a home. I doubt anyone will sell a house to you if you've filed for bankrupcy. How do you plan to pay for mortgage and food for your family? |

Unfortunately, investor guidelines specify that you will not be eligible for a mortgage loan until your bankruptcy has been closed for 4 years. Even FHA requires a time frame of 1 year since closure.
With the implosion of the sub prime market you may be unable to secure financing until such time as the required amount of time has passed and you have reestablished flawless new credit. |

I don't think a program is going to help you. Subprime mortgages are pretty much impossible to get right now.
You will have to work your credit back up to a reasonable level and have a strong down payment. |

You should be happy with your small apartment.
I'm a single mother of 2: lived in a small, 2 bedroom home. I gave the kids the rooms, of course. And I made the best out of it. We have since moved to a better & larger house. But, my son loved our old house. He never even thought of it being small - he just knew it was home.
Make the best of it. The fact that you filed bankruptcy is not going to allow you to buy a home. And it shows that you need to cut your expenses, so why are you looking for something bigger?? |

Unlike the rude answers from several of the previous posters. It is possible to get a home after filing for bankruptcy, and it won't take several years (a co-worker of my husbands filled for bankruptcy and within 1 year he bought a home). All you have to do is make sure you keep up with your current bills, save up some money (I know it's hard), and start looking.
You can look into renting a bigger apartment, or even a house. You will find that renting a house from a person is easier than trying to get money from a lender. |
