New Jersey law requires the landlord to give "reasonable" notice to enter the apartment. "Reasonable" in most cases means 12-24 hours. You can NOT deny him access nor do you need to be at home during the showings. |

Yes, but you do have the right to be given "ample notice" (not defined by law), and to be present at every showing. |

YEP. READ your lease, YOU agreed to do this as part of lease agreement. He has to give you advance notice, usually 24 hours advance notice. You do have right to be present if you want, otherwise he can do it with his key upon notice to you. |

Yes.
Check your lease. I'm sure there's a sentence or two in there about allowing the landlord "reasonable access". Showing the apartment to prospective tenants would certainly fall under the definition of "reasonable". |

Yes, but they have to give you 24 hours notice. This is true in all states. |

Yes by law they can show your apartment whether your present at the time or not. However they must give you at least 24 hours notice and it must be within reasonable times meaning not at 11:00 at night. I would suggest locking up any valuables and not leaving anything of importance laying around. Make sure your bills aren't out in the open like banking numbers, credit cards numbers just to protect yourself. |

Look on the web for tenant's rights in NJ. It will all be laid out specifically as to exactly what a landlord can and can not do. Generally, a landlord always has a right to access your (his) property, however, they have to give you advance notice - 48 hours, I think. |

Read your lease. Yes, you are expected to co-operate with the owner of the property so that he can find a new tenant. |

It will be in the lease. Most require the landlord to let you know a week in advance. If you signed it, then you have to follow the rules. It's not that awkward. I have had it done before. |

If you have a lease........and are still residing in the home.NO
But if you are in default (evicted or other) then call your local sheriff office.
If you are on good terms with your landlord...and want a good reference in the future..........then let him show the apartment. |

probably not but as long as he gives you notice that he will be showing it, it is allowable. |
