then move to any large (preferably labour controlled) city and you will have a house with a week or 2.

Years ago the waiting list for a Council house was very shore but nowadays so many council houses have been sold off at hugely discounted prices that they cannot afford to build more.
The only way around it is to become homeless. They will then find you a place in a hostel or B&B until a more permanent place can be found.
Try putting your name into as many housing associations as possible, including private landlords. |

But as it happens my ex did me a favour and was violent.
So I got priority and was in a refuge-after 2 months I got the coolest house-A safe one for me and my kids.

we applied when i found out i was pregnant with my first son and where told it wouldn't take long !!! i then had my second son 3 years after applying and finally got somewhere when he was 6 months old !!! not bad then approx 4 years !!

Why don't you privately rent somewhere, or move to an affordable housing area in an affordable part of the country and buy? I see council properties as housing for people who don't have any other options - single parents, homeless etc. You haven't mentioned any children so I'm guessing you don't have any. Therefore, moving into a shared house and renting may be a good first step. |
