Call them right away and offer to replace the bounced check IMMEDIATELY!! Do not wait for them to come to you. Explain it was a banking error on your part, apologize, and make good on it. Your security deposit is not for unpaid rent, it's for damage to the apartment. You still need to pay your February rent, or they could evict you. |

The bank is going to charge you a bounced check fee, my bank it's $35. As long as you lived there that long and this is the first time, they will probably let you know the check bounced and demand that you make it good. They can also charge a bounced check fee. I doubt that they will just take it from the security, but you won't know that until you speak with them |

With a year and a half of good payment history, I am sure your landlord will give you a break if you explain why you fell short.
Just pay the rent as soon as you can though, so that they will not have any impression that you are stalling. |

I don't know the rules regarding apartment payment policies because I've never lived in one. I would suggest though that you call your landlord immediately and explain why your check bounced and that you will replace the check on a given date. Know your rules about security deposit--talk to your landlord or the manager of the apartment. Don't wait for them to call you. Be responsible, like you mentioned, this is the first time you bounced a check. Don't let this incident ruin your good standing. One thing for sure, your bank will charge you a NSF fee. Good luck. |

contact the rental office and let them know that youre going to be a little late....give them a date whereby u can pay it...u may also have to pay a late fee and a bounced check fee....but no, they wont dig into your security deposit. |
