Firstly, go to this website and check out the 'one bedroom, self contained' rate for your area and for "Poole".

Make a note of the difference.

Then go to this website which would calculate how much you would get if you lived in Poole http://ha.boroughofpoole.com/benefitscalculator/

Add or deduct the difference from the first website and that should give you a good idea of how much help your council will give.

Also, visit http://www.entitledto.co.uk to check out other benefits.

You may also qualify for emergency housing assistance through Job & Family Services (welfare) or through HUD (section 8). Contact these agencies to see if they have any benefit for which you could qualify. Also contact the city managers office (some cities have emergency assistance programs built into the city budget via federal grants.) This is separate from the above federal programs when they are available. Other forms of assistance would be available from charities, churches, and other non-profit organizations. Contact these directly. And do apply for disability if you are able. It will take some time to get that approved.
