I chose realty fraud for my senior project...will that put people to sleep?
I'm a senior now and I need to choose an interesting topic. what do you think of realty fraud? where can I find good information on it? I couldn't find any. it'd help if you told me what topic you picked and how did you do. Thanks.

If you want to find out interesting stuff about fraud in real estate then go talk to live people in person, get off the internet.

Talk with loan officers, Realtors, closing officers at title companies, real estate appraisers and people getting their home foreclosed on.

Each of these people may have real life stories on how real people have profited from misery. Some of this could be fraud. A lot of it will be interesting.

On the internet most of what you will find is statistics and that is boring.

You should see a realty lawyer and ask to interview them for your project. They can be a wealth of information for things like that. Make sure they know you are in school and doing research. They may be able to help you find other resources of information. Make your presentation interesting, though or you will put people to sleep. It's a difficult subject to get people interested in-unless you are in a room full of either realtor's, criminals, or district attorneys.

I did womanhood and women in the media ...there's lots and lots of stuff on it everywhere.. I did a massive collage first of all and then how women are portrayed in media and feminism..I really enjoyed it cos I could relate to it...

Em, Realty Fraud is very boring to me but maybe not everyone.

Shane
I think what might keep your audience awake is if you format it in a style that people are accustomed to.
If I chose that topic I'd interview some Realtors, take the best case scenario then describe my findings in a CSI manner. Start from the end and work your way backwards.

People are committing suicide as a result of their mortgages being foreclosed, perhaps as a result of realty fraud.

Google around and you can find examples of this.

Could you make that interesting?

It’s a boring topic, but how often have you sat through a speech in school and been enthralled. I’m trying to recall a single instance in a business or public speaking course where I had an ounce of interest my classmates’ speeches. Most people go into presentation days knowing they’ll be bored.

Real estate fraud is a really broad topic. Try to narrow it down to something more specific. I’ll bet if you look for “real estate” instead of “realty” you’ll find plenty of info.

You might even think about doing a presentation of the factors that caused the current mortgage situation, with foreclosures and tightening lending standards and such. I’ll bet a lot of your classmates are hearing a lot about the topic but don’t really understand what it’s all about.

It might be interesting if you used 2 examples of how first time buyers got taken, and since most of your classmates will be buying a house it might be relevant.
