My mother-in-law became a real estate agent about 1 year ago. We listed our home with her then and it has been 10 months and we are getting discouraged.
I was awarded our home in a divorce settlement, but I don't live there and I don't want it. I can afford the payments so the bank won't do anything, but I just want to get rid of the thing. What is the fastest way to sell this house? I got an agent and I have listed it for $40k less than my neighbor is listing his, but I am not getting any offers in this market. I don't want to lose money, but I don't care if I make any either.
You did not indicate where you were located, there are lots of real estate investors that might take your property advertised in the newspaper. If you would send me your location state and city I might be able to assist you with getting rid of your property.
I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

Keep it and sell when the market is better. Rent it now for the payments.

Try leasing it out for a few years. The sell it when the market recovers.
gone!
drop the price to 10% higher than what you originally paid for it, you'll still make a little out of it and get rid of it quickly. never mind what your neighbor is listing his at, ( although he'll probably be p..... off at you because it may devalue his property too). but then if you're moving who cares.

Try talking to Ex and see if he's interested.
This market is HORRIBLE. Can you rent it for anything close to your monthly payments? Waiting a year (maybe two) would make a huge difference. As you've found, even a low price doesn't guarantee a sale. Once you get an offer, they buyer may not qualify for a loan. Trying to sell it is very difficult, and a big hassle.
We moved back into our house for these reasons.

Haven't you heard? It's a buyers' market. If you're in a hurry to sell, lower the price.
