The Place I live in had a city inspection. And was given a fix it ticket -35days this time has pasted,and was mailed a termination notice, with no reason at all, I have lived here for 15 yrs. I don't want to move, just because he needs to put new carpet down and bathroom repairs. We can work togethet on this matter,(right)?

Talk directly to the landlord, you've been there so long, & if you are willing to help him out so you don't have to move, that may be perfectly legal & possible.

Actually he has a reason for the termination notice. More than likely he has to fix the apt up to code and has to do it without you being there. It could be dangerous, or he has to tear the apt apart to fix it. There may be more than just carpet and bathroom repairs that he is NOT telling you about. It must be serious because city inspectors do not ticket you just for carpet reasons or small bath repairs. There may be mold that has to be cleaned up or rotting wood that support the bath floor or walls. He cannot fix that with you there.
I realize that 15 yrs is a long time, but the time has come where you have no choice but to move. |

He likely needs you to move out so that he can fix the issues, there isn't much your landlord can do if he doesn't have somewhere else for you to stay. |

I f the building has 4 units or more he cannot evict you for no reason. If it has less he can evict without a reason. Talk to him and ask if the work can be done around you, you could stay in one room while he fixes another room. Many people renovate their homes without moving out. Remind him what a good tenant you have been and would he want to take the chance of getting a non paying trouble making tenant instead of keeping you. |
