james_b_carr | I have a noisy neighbor who won't quiet down, what can I do? |
I have a upstairs neighrbor who at night. usally 12am - 3am, makes so much noise i can't sleep. I've lived in m rental unit for two years, she just moved in two months ago. I've notiifed the landlord, I politely asked the neighrbor on three occasions to quiet down, and nothing seems to work, what can I do? Additional Details I've asked her to politely quiet down, left her a note on two occasions, told my landlord, and her responce is that I'm threatening her and harrasing her. She says she's not making any noise, but I wouldn't be up all night if she was. I feel trapped. |

Call the police. |

Sounds as if you've followed the chain of command, so to speak. My next step, in your shoes, would be to call the police and report a disturbance of the peace.

You can call the cops and complain and if she does it again call them back out there and eventually she will be ticketed for disturbing the peace........good luck! |

Collect a pile of dog crap, put it in a bag, light it, ring their doorbell, throw it at him, then kick him in the throat and cut the electricity and phone lines to his appartment. You could do those last two steps earlier if you want to. |

Gather evidence. This would include sound recordings and positive proof of the time. If you can prove loud noise after 9 or 10PM, you can prevail in court. Simply find a clock that is located in the nearest public place, and record the disturbing noise as soon as possible thereafter. You can also call police, when you hear the disturbing noise, and get them to file a police report. Then take your evidence, and use it to file a complaint with your local court, requesting relief. Then, the bs would probably stop immediately. Otherwise, there will be hell to pay for the offender. |

I am in the reverse situation. I moved into an apartment last summer. My next door neighbor has apparently lived in his apartment forever. I tend to be a night owl. So I end up in the kitchen eating or whatever late at night. The problem is this neighbor's bed apparently backs up to my kitchen. After a week of living in the apartment He starts banging on my door screaming because the broom was making an "incredible amount of noise". He said I make noise every single night (despite the fact I spend many nights at a friends). One Saturday evening around 8:00 I got a visit from my building manager. Apparently the neighbor was bitching to him about my noise. At 8:00 in the evening! I feel like I have to walk on eggshells. Never had this problem before. Ugh. |

quit being polite. OK? she blew it. Next time this happens you go beat her door down and say "Look bi***, I tried to be nice about this but oh no you couldnt accept that. so heres the deal,
you make noise again that disturbs my sleep I m gonna kick in this door and rip your liver out and feed it to my dog ya got it? just kiddin hell ya end up in jail. so next time call the police and follow thru on the complaint. |

Notify your landlord again and insist that he handles this problem-if it doesn't work you can call the policemen to take care of it for you. If you don't want to go that route sorry to say but you may need to start looking for another apartment. It could become a very nasty situation. |

When u meet ur neighbor in the morning just give him/her a thanks for making noise last night. And politely tell him/her that u were disturbed. Carry on this process until he/she stop making noise. Don't get bore. Keep going like this. If he/she is a human and have shame then after a week undoubtedly u'll get a positive output. |

honestly after all that, you need to just move out.. or use earplug or call the cops. |

anything disturbing you after 11pm you can call the police for a noise compliant and if she doesn't turn it down they could write her a ticket. |

You could tell your landlord you will withhold rent until the noise quietens down. There is a noise pollution law also, your rent entitles you to have quiet during those hours, only money talks these days, so tell your landlord you will withhold rent until the noise is dealt with |

I live in a pretty noisy neighborhood, too. The best thing I have tried is turning on a fan near my bed. I point it away from myself so that it doesn't blow on me, but it magically blocks out all noise, doesn't cost a lot to run, and allows me to still be cool with the neighbors. |
