That so called friend is taking advantage of your kind heartedness - but that's what happens! Confront her about it - she's being hardfaced and knows you will feel awkward about tackling her about the money. She's playing on that and getting away with what she wants. Pluck up the courage to speak with her and be firm - she's a cheeky s*d. |

Never lend friends or relatives money without a written repayment agreement. If they won't sign it and accuse you of not trusting them, they aren't a good friend in the first place.
If you give a friend money without a written repayment agreement, consider the money a gift so if you don't get it back at least you still have a friend. |

Ask her about it first and if she still refuses the only thing left to do is take her to small claims court to get it back. But make sure you have proof that it was in fact a loan with a promise from her to pay you back. |

You lost the money and lost a friend.Dont do it again. |

Take her to small claims court. You'll need proof that you paid it for her, and that it was a loan. |

take her to court.. first talk to her .. |

take her to court. how did u pay for it?
if cash in hand, ur silly.. I would have got her to sign an agreement as proof of the loan.. but then again I never loan any friends any money.. OR borrow..
it causes too much hassle. someone asked me for a loan before , i laughed at them.. not like I even knew them that well.
IF you can prove u gave her the money, take her to the small claims court.. and get better friends..
or call in the ballifs .. if it goes to small claims court and she don't pay up .. she won't have a tv + hifi etc for much longer.. |

I suggest that you gently remind her that she owes you money and that you will need it back, and offer to make an arrangements for her to pay you in installments, asking her to committ to certain dates in case she just doesn't have the money to pay you in full. Also you could say something like "ok the 17th of February, let's write that on our calandars" so she can't claim that she forgot. |

Do you have any written contract/document?
First talk to her; hopefully that should work.
If it doesn't, then perhaps you might want to take this to the court (you don't have to tell her this). |

Call Judge Judy. If you get on, she will make one of you
wish you were at home. Maybe both of you.
Do you have a written contract? It would help.
If you have a provable case, take her to small claims court. |

Take her to small claims court. Insure you have all documentation, i.e., front and back of check, your bank statement showing the deduction, and write down the exact conversation regarding same, where you were, date, time.
If you have witnesses you can only use those that were present at the time she asked, no hear say witnesses. Save any text or email messages she may have sent and record any phone calls. If any friends you may know heard her speak of this loan bring them.
First, send her a certified letter requiring her signature. In a friendly letter demand your money within 10 days. You may mention your intentions as well if she cannot resolve this matter to your satisfaction.
Always stay friendly, do not "hassle" her and give her some opportunity to respond to your letter. After you send the letter do not contact her again, let her contact you, or see her in court.
Remember, should she call always assume she is recording the conversation. |

You can take her to court but really it's your word against hers that this was not a gift because you have no proof of the agreement.
I have two "friends" (they are also best friends with each other) at work that borrowed a combined total of $300 from on the basis of dire circumstances. No written agreement. Now they avoid me like the plague.
It burns their butts that I never appear to be angry when I see them. I'm past wishing they were run over by a bus. Now I pity them. They are their own reasons for continued financial difficulties. |
