I know this may seem like a really basic and stupid question but...?
How do you buy a house (in UK)?

Like what's the processes involved, what do you need to go through, who do you need to get involved, etc?

Thanks for any help!
God bless xx

1) Secure your mortgage with the bank
2) Find a house
3) Put in offer
4) If offer accepted get a survey done on house
5) If survey acceptable solicitors of buyer and seller liaise
6) Completion day is agreed in principal (this is the day when you become the owner and you get the keys)
7) Contracts are exchanged
8) Completion day arrives

These are the basic steps, of course things can and may happen in between, offers get rejected, surveys come back bad, so you may have to withdraw or haggle a lower price, solicitors need their ar$es kicking sometimes to get things done. It can be a short process or a very long drawn out one - but its worth it in the end to get those keys in your hand and have a home to call your own! Good Luck!! xx

Find one you like (estate agents can help here, go see one, tell them what you're after, or just look in the window). Go see bank, or ring internet company and ask for mortgage. They will credit check you. If they agree, you make an offer through the estate agent, they will make sure you have a mortgage/the money to pay and then you get the house!

jamesdean2002uk
right, first you find a house or flat etc that you like through an estate agent.

find out the price, then go to an

or ifa as they are known

and your bank,

they assess how much you can borrow i.e your wages and any deposit. and credit rating

, then you get a mortgage,

Couldn't be easier. The seller signs a deed to you. You put your money on the table (the whole amount). When she gives you the deed, you give her the money. You own the house. Very simple.
If you don't have the cash, you will borrow it. But at some point the lender's money will be on the table with the deed and the swap will be made. You will sign a paper promising to pay the lender-- it wasn't a gift to you. Then you own it.
If you understand the basic premise, the rest is easy and fun. .

apply for a mortgage first so you know exactly how much you can afford to spend.then visit estate agents or look on property websites.ask agency for advice re their fees, solicitor fees, stamp duty, surveyors & fees etc & make sure you have factored in all these extra costs too as they can add thousands to your house cost.make sure you can afford all the utility bills & council tax etc in chosen area.don't be too dogmatic about what you think you want to buy & see a mixture in your price range or below.Ask friends or agency to recommend solicitor if you don't know one already.check how you might need to get to work, shop in area etc.All worthwhile doing in advance so you alleviate some nasty surprises.Enjoy the experience,it is possible to do so.

Id say
first step go and see a mortgage advisor and find out how much you will be able to get!

Then look for a house you like

place an offer

when offer accepted you need a solicitor who will keep you informed with what you need to do next!

Happy Hunting!
