I live on the end of a row of apartments. There is enough room in front of each apt. to park 2 cars. Even though I only have 1 vehicle, the end apt. is by the dumpster and there is not alot of room to turn around in. Other tennants use 2 spaces so I believe I have the right to both spaces in front of my apt. There is nothing in the lease about this. The landlord has been told twice about this but they still do it. What can I do? |

unfortunately a whole lot of nuthin'. try to take it upon yourself and wake up to broken windows and punctured tires. its a sucky situation, sorry:( |

depending on the state, the landlord should be able to have them towed - w/ or w/out first putting a warning notice on the vehicle. ask her about this option. the person whose car gets towed should know its a mgmt tactic, not you personally. |

can you mark or paint the space with your name in big letters would that be allowed? Or put up some big thing to block it and then when you pull up pick it up and put it in your trunk like a big object that is bright orange...........and something they would not want to drive over....... |

When this happend to me I did the following:
1: Put a nice note on their car saying that this was not their space, Please do nnot park here anymore. I did this for 1 week.
2: I let the landloard know this every time someone parked in my space. I mean I called and left a message and wrote them a note.
3: After all this I put a warning sign on each car that was in my space. It said "Last warning. If you park in my space 1 more time I will have your car towed at your expence.
4: I told the landloard of ever time I put a final notice on each car.
5: Had the car towed away
6: I had no more problems with ppl in my space anymore. |

If the spaces are not reserved, you can do nothing about it unfortunately. It's only "your space" in your mind. To everyone else it is a legitimate free spot.
If the space is not reserved, your landlord can't do anything about it either. He has no grounds to tel people to move.
Now if it is reserved, you have the right to call the police about it.
What about asking the landlord if he can make arrangements for the dumpster to be moved a little to get you more turning room? |

Go to the Home Depot and get a saw horse. Place a sign on it that says no parking except for apt # x. Place it in the empty parking spot for a couple weeks and they will get the Idea.
I remember shoveling 3 feet of snow out of 2 parking spots (one for me and one for my mom, I was still living at home) right down to the bare blacktop. I left and came back an hour later and the neighbor had parked in my freshly shoveled spot. I marched up to his door and asked him to move his car and offered him the use of my snow shovel as a hint that if he wanted a clean spot he could by God clean one out for himself. I had no more problems. |
