If you have proof that you can present to a court then go to the small claims court. www.lawpack.co.uk if you have no proof that would be able to be presented then I'm afraid you will have to put it down to experience.

Do you still owe some money for the phone bill or the electricity or something? You could withhold your £100 from that. Or you could ask him nicely and offer that he re-pays you in installments if that is easier as it might be that he can't rather than won't pay you back.

All other ways are a bit nastier and so it would depend on your current relationship and how you want it to be in the future. If you don't now have a relationship and you care even less about what sort you will have in the future, you could go the legal way and threaten to take him to the small claims court but that may well cost you about as much as he owes.

If you still have access to the flat, you could go round and take some of his stuff to the value of £100 and hold it to ransom for your money. If he doesn't pay then sell it on ebay.

You could contact the landlord and tell him/her that he has not repaid you and you were his friend. Is he likely to pay the rent now you're not there? This might be enough for them to re-think the tenancy especially if they don't know you've moved out.

You could contact where he works and tell a few choice people that he owes you money. It will spread like wild fire and he might be shamed into giving you the money.

You could send the boys round.

write off the £100 legal redress is too expensive, and small claims court too uch of a pain for such a relaively small ammount

You could go to the small claims court, think you can even do it all on line.

Depends where you located.....USA? All States, city and counties are different too.....
You can sue him in small claims court.
Was he on the lease too?
Did you have any witnesses that can state that he agreed to pay this cost previously?
Do you have evidence basically in order to bring this to court?
You also have to consider the statue of limitations. Where I live a written contract is 4 years and a verbal one is 2 years.

If you had an agreement in writing you could take it to small claims court...but you probably only had a verbal agreement...you cannot make him give it to you.
sorry

its a tricky one. if u take legal action, its going to cost u money anyway and if u leave it, its gonna cost u money, so u may have to just move on and try not to fall into the same thing again, easier said than done but i guess that's what moving on is about.

you could try to the small claims court, it might cost you around £40 and you represent yourself.

However you do need proof that he owes you the money.
