Talk to your landlord. Let them know your situation with your money from school.
Better to be open and honest about it.
If your landlord will not accept partial/late rent, check in to one of those pay-day advance places that will give a short term loan. |

Call your local social services branch. They often have grants set up to help with rent short term (especially for people in school). Call and see if you are a candidate for any. Good luck to you. |

Find out if the school money has been or will be sent. Check on the status of your refund from income taxes. If you know what the refund amount was, you can check the status here:
http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96596,00.html
Check with your school to see if they offer any emergency assistance for housing costs.
Once you have the answers to these questions, contact your landlord and ask for an extension. |

Township sometimes has emergency funds available--check them out.
Get a part-time job.
If you've never been late, pay something to landlord, and get the rest to him as soon as possible. Explain it to him and NEVER do it again. Poor LL hear sob stories all the time, and it's mostly people making poor choices and not paying LL and then owing so much they can't make it up. |

I will pray that God will show you a way out.
Are you able to discuss these matters with your debtors?
Like, can they hold off until you get your income tax?
There's too many online scams wanting to advance you money. That's dangerous. Maybe ask your bank about it. Perhaps they can advise you on quick loans, if it's that important you are fronted the money.
Good luck. and God bless you. |

Some cities particularly large cities have temporary rental assistance programs - check with local or state housing departments. Some community organizations like religious institutions provide some temp. assistance.
Have you asked your school for help or will your landlord cut you some slack? |

In Pennsylvania there's an organization called Commission on Economic Opportunity. Look in the phone book under human services, social services, emergency needs. They'll ask you to fill out a bunch of paperwork, your income, etc. They will only provide help for one month's rent. It usually takes a long time too, so I would discuss the matter with my landlord. |

Check you local christian crisis center or contact the department of human services. In some states, there is a program called "community action". They will help you on limited occasions. They can help you with your utilities and/or one months rent. Call your local human service department to see if there is a program available for you.
In the meantime, call your landlord and let him/her know your situation. Don't keep them in the dark, they will respect you for being honest, and may even give you more time to pay it.
Do you have a job? If not, I reccommend getting one-even if it is part time. I was in your shoes in college, and I had to break down and get a job. I was so broke and school checks where never reliable! You need a reliable source of income coming from somewhere-especially if you are living on your own and you don't have anyone to turn to!
When you get your taxes, put some away for a rainy day like this one! :)
Good Luck! |

garage sell, ebay... take another weekend job.
if you really cant, try talking to your land lord. you must be able to pay something say at least 1/2 your rent. and then ask if he can take the rest off from your deposit. you must give a deadline to pay him back though. |

If you are desperate, and need money by the 1st then you can always go to one of those pay day loans. Especailly if you know that you will have money coming in soon. I have used My Cash Now online in the past. www.mycashnow.com and their fees are lower than some of the other pay day loans. Don't get in the habit of using these however, they have very high loan rates, so it's only for super emergency situations. Good luck! |
