OK, it's not the end of the world. Your kids are young there is tons you can do to make Christmas special and it doesn't have to do with a pile of presents!!!
In the meantime call your local Gospel Mission, Luther Social Services or Catholic Charities and salvation Army and ask about programs they have, does your city have a Toys for Tots program?

Catholic Charities can hook you up with a Christmas dinner and Christmas gifts for your children. You do NOT have to be Catholic. They have ties to other local charities (like Toys for Tots) as well as the local grocery suppliers. They usually can provide milk and bread for free a couple days a week for those in need.

I am sorry for your trouble, but you must to start looking for assistance for Christmas right away, check with your local churches in most cases (at least with catholic Churches you must be within their parish boundaries), so check with the closest one.
Also check with food pantries and other help agencies near your home. Here is a quick way to make extra cash, do an inventory on all of your stuff, toys, Cd's electronics, tools etc. post an add on Craig's list, be very detailed and price things right, you'll be surprised with the response you get. Good luck

A blank!
Tell your kids Santa had a strike to deal with and it related to inflation and oil prices.

Ms.Know It All
Contact Family and Children services. They should have some type of christmas program in place for needy children.

make crafts, from stuff you do have around, or you can ask a friend to see if they have anything that they want to get rid of,
or the salvation army, or a blue mantel (if you have one)

Quillz
wow man..... your really in a bad situation there. i would say hope your christmas bonus is good ( if you get one ) and also see if your friends can lend a helping hand this christmas and pay them back when you have the money. also try putting back afew dollers every month or every week so that way you have a kind of "emergancy fund" for a emergancy. that way you will always have somehting to fall dack on so you don't get in too much trouble.

Christmas isn't about presents.. It's about celebrating the joys of the season and the birth of christ... Be with friends/family and be happy that you have your health, family and friends... Tell your children stories and have a nice time... Maybe bake some cookies and rent a fun movie... Make memories of Christmas with them... The toys won't matter it's the time/energy that you spend NOT the amount of money... Take the children to a midnight church service in their pj's..Drive around at night and check out the holiday lights.. Maybe if you are able get them some small presents after the holiday. Good luck..

call churches and salvation army and call communtiy centers and ask the school they attend for help and local welfare dept and they have a program where cops help kids i hope that helps
