well, first you need to send this letter to him 30 days before you want to leave. make it proffessional and short and sweet.. you need to state that you are giving the 30 day notice (which should incude the the actual date), that you will do what ever cleaning that needs to be done and thank him for everything he has done for you...(mentioning specific times and things)...date it at the top, and put your name in with space above it for you to sign your name. keep a copy for your own records and if you wanna go the extra step, certify mail it....good luck and happy moving! |

Well it depends what country you are in I suppose - and I would assume if you are in the US it depends what state. I rent out a property in the UK and my tenants stay for a guaranteed six months (ie they HAVE to stay for the first 6 months and I HAVE to let them - extenuating circumstances aside). After that it is a monthly rolling contract whereby they have to give me a months notice if they want out, and I have to give them two months notice if I want them to leave. As for how to put it to the landlord/lady, just a simple letter saying that you want to vacate the premises at xyz date is fine. As long as you have kept within the terms of your tenancy agreement you don't have to be a fancy letter writer! :) |

Although they are basically the same it can vary depending on what State you are in. The most commom form letter is basically the following.
(Date)
(Name of Landlord)
This is a notice to inform you that on (Date) (I) (We) intend to vacate the rental unit located at (property address). The (lease) rental agreement requires _______ days of advance notice prior to vacating the unit. This letter represents_________ days of notice.
All rents & utilty bills will be paid in full through the end of the notice period on (Date) as required under the terms of the (lease) (rental agreement)
(I) (we) expect to have the unit empty & cleaned on (Date) I also request a date for inspection of the property.
Thank you
(Your name)
It is very very important that you have them do a walk through the rental after you have cleaned it. That way they can't come back on you saying there was damage done that you didn't do. Get it in writing that the unit was in good condition when you vacated. |

all you have to do is state that you are giving them notice to quit the premises. if you have a contract for the premises have a good look at it to see how long you have got to give him has i no you have to give at least one months notice so do check.
hope this helps |

Are you breaking a contract short of it's time period? If so you had bette have good reason, such as loss of job, disable or whatever, but you more than likely will not get back any deposit, which is forfieted because you are breaking your contract. you may have to pay a partial or full rent for remainder time. Before you start to write a letter, read over your rental agreement, check out the clauses for early termination of the contract. there is no such thing as a rental contract with no way out, if they state such a thing, that is an illegal contract, you can call or visit your local state branch fair housing office, don't know what they call it where you are, but every US state has them. Landlords cnnot just put anything in a contract and make it binding, and renters do have valid reasons for termination, so check these things out first. If you got a good valid reason, be nice, and give them a one month minimum notice, and tell them to keep the deposit, you are really hurtin there finances on planned income, the place may be vacant for some time. It's the price you sometimes have to pay to be set free (freedom has a price in all things). |

If you have a lease you will still be held liable for the rents due through that end date. Just a simple note: I will be vacating the rental unit located at________________ on 00/00/07.
Please call me at _________ to schedule a final walk through to check the condition of the unit. Thank you.
And sign it.
Hand deliver or send certified mail and keep a copy for yourself. |

If you do not have a lease, or if it expires within 30 days, you can give your landlord 30 days notice. Laws vary from state to state, but most states require a 30 day notice. If you have a lease and you leave you will have to pay rent until your landlord finds a new tenant, plus any costs incurred by them to find a new tenant.
Here's what I would say:
Dear ______
I am giving you 30 days notice that I will be vacating my apartment/house. I will move out on 6/1/2007 and return the key to you on that date. Below is my new address for you to forward my deposit to.
your signature
your name
todays date
Your new address
Send it certified and keep a copy for yourself. |

first he has to send you a renewal letter via certified mail generally 60 days before your lease is up. when you receive it you reply with a letter simply stating that you will be vacating on the last day of your current lease and do not wish to extend..its pretty simple. send it back certified and keep a copy for your file that way there is a paper trail. if you stay longer than your lease you create a different situation. and if you pay to stay longer it is implied that you are month to month |
