Even when my weekly paycheck is directly deposited, I will still not have enough money. My wife is bi-polar and went on a manic spending spree. I have never been late paying rent in the past. Find what your wife bought and return as much as you can. I would also contact your landlord so heshe doesn't get a bounce check fee (which they will pass on to you). Explain what happen and hope for the best.

If you already know that your landlord is unforgiving, get ready for an eviction.
Regardless of what you do, you gave the landlord a bad check, rubber rubber.
The landlord has a right to be unforgiving in this situation, sorry, he is running a business, not therapy and not a charity. Your wife's illness is irrelevant.
Your rent is not paid and you will not have the funds to pay it even after your weekly check is deposited. Not looking good.
You can be held liable for NSF/bad checks fees and late fees per your lease and if the landlord starts the eviction process, legal fees as well in order to stop it.
Also, issuing a bad check is a criminal offense. In some states, issuing a check for over $500.00 is a felony.

Explain what happen to your landlord and take your wife's name off the bank account. Also get her help for her disorder, she needs medication. Stop payment on that check |

Honesty is always the best policy, It's unfortunate the situation your in. But you would be surprised how many other people have been there at some point. If you talk to your landlord even if they are unforgiving,legally they would have to start an eviction process and hopefully by the time all that would get initiated, you could come up with the funds to fix this, you may have to pay some late fees or whatever that your landlord has imposed on your lease. I hope for your sake you do have a lease. Best of luck.

sell immediately some of your wife newly purchases and talk to the management of the building, not the super. they'll understand your situation and may offer you late payment plan. and in the future limit your wife randomly spendings for your own good. |

Either way you pay. Either for the stopped check or for the bounced check. I would rather stop the check however. Depending on how late, you may be able to speak with the landlord and tell them in advance that you will be late. |

I WOULD TALK TO THE LANDLORD BECAUSE I'M SURE YOU CAN PROVE THAT YOUR WIFE IS BI-POLAR. YOUR LANDLORD HAVE TO HAVE A HEART. TRY TO GET AS MUCH OF THE MONEY BACK AS YOU CAN BY RETURNING STUFF. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU TRY TO GET A SAMLL LOAN BUT YOU MAY NOT WANT TO GO THAT ROUTE SO I HOPE FOR THE BEST FOR YOU OKAY. |

Short term: you can ask for an advance or get a pay day loan, if your landlord is a stickler.
