RICHARD J | I owe a fine to the courts and the balliffs can they break in my home? |
will they break into my home if i don't let them in |

First you will get a knock on the door, and if you fail to answer they can get the paperwork to remove the lock off your door and take your goods. |

If you have been fined and don't pay , you are liable to arrest.
In which case bailiffs are not going to be your first concern.
Bailiffs do not have an automatic right to "break in" to your house but can be granted such right of entry as a court deems fit. In such a case they will be accompanied by the Police. |

Bailliffs can only enter a home by non forceful means, so they cannot break doors down or force their way past you. But they can enter your home by means of open windows or doors so long as it causes no damage. |

They can't break in but once you have let them in then they can gain entry again, you do not have to let them in unless they are Court Baliffs. If you owe a fine to the court then yes the baliffs can come in. They are the only ones that can "try" to gain access. It is the wording of gaining entry that tends to confuse people. A friend had this experience and be warned for each time he didn't respond more money got added to the fine so its better to get an agreement come too. |

If you can afford to pay something then try to negotiate with them. They are not as bad as some people think. A friend of mine had an experience with the bailiffs recently & they were fine with her. Be honest, you owe the money & they are just trying to get it back !!!! |

If you open the door, even just a little, they can gain entry. |

Yeah they can do |

If they have a warrant for your arrest yes they will break in to get you. If is only a fine I don't think you have too much to worry about but I would pay it if I were you. Because even if they don't break into your house they will get yoiu eventually and then you will go to jail. |

They can only come in if they have a police officer and a warrent, you let them in, or you leave a window/door open when you go out, so they can get in without causing damage. |

No they cannot gain forceable access, although if a window is open they can climb through! they can go to court to gain access (usually with a police escort)
Also they can leave a note saying they called if you do not respond they increase the amount of the claim.
Usually a visit from a balliff means that they will come in sit down with you, price all your goods up and come to an agreement to pay the monies owed, if you fail to keep this up, they will remove goods (they cannot remove some basic goods, fridge, bed, clothes, cooker) although TV's Stereos, microwave will be taken |

Yes, they will. If you don't come out and answer the summons, they will smash down the door, physicially restrain you and arrest you. |
