I owe the housing assistance money but they wont let me pay.?
I am a single mother and needed low pay housing about 6 years ago. I just found out that I owe them money for moving out and not sending them a letter, but they say they can't find me in the system. When they finally did find me they said I owe but don't know how much. I can't seem to get anyone to help me. I can't finish fixing my credit if they don't even know anything about it. She also says she has no boss. She is the only one that deals with that issue. Any ideas? Please be nice. Yes I needed help but I have a great job now and take care of my family on my own.

Check your credit report, I would think it would be with a collection agency now, housing assistance would not know what you owe, as they would not include interest or the collection fees.

If she can't figure out how much you owe ask her to reach an agreement or to write a letter to the credit bureau so that it can be removed from your credit.

That is weird. You need to call them back and talk to them, someone there should tell you. I don't think they can tell you that you owe money and not tell you how much. There is a prob. there!

Send a letter to whoever in your state is in charge of housing, you should be able to get thier information from the state website. Copy the letter to the governers office, and also your local senator and representative. Make sure you put on the bottom of the letter who you have copied it to.

Tell them that person you spoke was unable to help you, refused to escalate your call and they and what you need done.

Though it is unlikely the governor will see the letter, the person on his/her staff that reads the letters will likely forward a copy to the person in charge of housing so either way they will get it.

Good luck

you might b the victim of a scam.. contact BBB and a lawyer fast

Alot of times, a new property management company buys the old one, and they are not required to keep records. The credit bureau is the best one to find out how to pay this. Surely there was a collection company or lawyer that posted it to the credit bureau, although that first management company may have sold out to the other one, you should be able to track down your debt that way.

don't pay them anything yet. keep their notice & secretly live voice recording them if possible. let the authority know that they are giving you a hard time and start your case and state everything truthful. just wait for what the city have to say.

hopes this help (sound like they want to cheat you or steal your money)

*if you are telling the truth than chances are no bad people will had a chance to win you.

Many businesses have no idea what they're doing, especially in Florida. So make them come after you, and then deal with it.
