You should try the area of bank robbery. This should provide you with the deposit for a flat in London.

Well, it depends on your budget, the places you need to get to and your cultural vibe.

The most expensive areas in inner London are the West End, (WC, W and SW1 postcodes), Hampstead (NW3) and Islington (N1). Hampstead has literary types and Islington lawyers and media types.

Up and coming places include most bits of East London because of the Olympics and SE London just south of the river (Southwark, Kennington etc).

Hackney in East London has a hippie vibe. Most affordable areas are probably SE London around Catford and Norwood, E London around Leyton.

Other good places to look would be Pimlico (central), Crouch End (north), and Brockwell (south) which all have a bit of character.
