Recently - I received a visit from the town for my shed being to big, having a 4' freestanding pool with no permit, etc. Mind you - all of these charges were found to be a 'no grounds' - so I'm ok with that. What I want to know is - which of my neighbors did this. I don't want to hear to 'just let it go and cut any losses and aggravation speeches' - I'm not built like that. The agency probably cannot release that information. If they did, you'd probably take the law into your own hands and take revenge. If you turned someone in for something, would you want the policing agency to release that information to the criminal? |

If anyone can help you now, it is a lawyer. I'd suggest telling the lawyer that false charges, which later turned out to be unfounded, were filed against you. Basically tell them what you told us. The lawyer will know whether you have a case of harassment or not. Because that is all it is: harassment. And it is documented...So it would be easy to prove.
Do you have dogs? Do you play loud music? Do you do a lot of grilling? Do you do anything at all that might make a neighbor mad at you? Are there any kids close by who you told to get out of your yard? It could be a mentally ill neighbor as well. Sometimes those who have chemical imbalances make poor decisions.
If you can figure it out on your own, it would be cheaper. But, if you can't, a lawyer is the only one you can turn to. They will let you know if you can do anything.
Sounds like you have an enemy close by. Be careful, because the failure to get you in trouble might cause another attempt of some sort to harass you. You will definitely have a case if this keeps up. I don't know if one time is enough to take this person down, but -- if they persist -- then you have every right to stop the harassment through legal channels.

Legally, there are no grounds to compel the town to tell you. (That is because they rely upon anonomity of reports to find out dangerous situations).
It should be relatively easy for you to surmise who would do it. Who has access to your back yard? Who are you on unfavorable terms? If neither of those are the case, it must be a nutjob, or someone at work that dislikes you. |

You are talking about violating their privacy, they will tell you if they want to. If people worried about bullies being told who reported them the bullies would not have live by the same rules as the rest of us. |
