King Harold | I want to live in the USA by the sea, but where? |
I am a 55 year old Englishman. Retired, not a lot of cash but reasonable pension. I would love to live in the States BUT it has to be by the sea. I could buy if not too expensive or possibly rent. Any ideas please. |

your description of by the sea is not good enough. If you want to be on the water, at the oceans edge a house will run you 300-500,000 us dollars and up along most of the coast line. You could get into a condo for 150,000 us dollars or more. if you want to live near the beach. You could buy houses within 15 minutes drive for 100,000 dollars and up. to find a house. Look at a map and use www.realtor.com. enter the city, select surrounding cities and do a search for your price range. It is difficult to narrow down good places to live because the coastline of the us is thousands of miles long ranging from maine in the cold northease down to the tip of florida and the florida keys, around to texas. skip over to california and up to washington. varying temperatures year round, rain, snow, no rain, droughts. water shortages, flooding. depending on where you live every spot is different. |

There are several states to choose from....
If you are retired I would try Florida first. (good climate, no state income taxes, retired people friendly state, large retired community, people not so friendly...).
After that I would go for Texas (good climate, No state income taxes, very friendly people). |

Come to beautiful, historic, New Hampshire. We have it all, majestic mountains, scenic lakes region, sandy seaside beaches.... A nice mix of art, culture, fine dining and easy living!!! A nice bonus to living here that most other states don't have is NO Sales tax. |

Oregon is on the West Coast and it's beautiful. Some of the coastal towns to check out the real estate market are: Astoria, Lincoln City, Newport, Florence, Tillamook, Coos Bay, North Bend. There are too many to list.
Good Luck :) |

Check out Washington State, or Texas....really the only few states close to any body of water that isn't fresh, and isn't overly expensive. |

If you enjoy changes in the seasons. the Carolina's are beautiful. The north east coast is breathtaking. If you are looking for a milder climate, try the Georgia coast, Florida, Texas or California. If I left our your state, please forgive me...too many to mention. |

I agree with Oregon (I am a bit biased since I live here).
Brookings, Bandon, Gold Beach, Florence, Newport and Coos Bay are all beautiful.
I go to Brookings every chance I get. |
