Learn by your first mistake and don't get a hosue over your means. Stay within 1/4 of your monthy income and no more othewise you'll endup getting in trouble again. |

I would be very careful that you understand that no matter what agreements you and your step brother have...if for whatever reason he cannot pay on the loan...you are responsible for the mortgage.
Might I make a suggestion?
If you are just trying to give your brother a place to live...why don't you and your husband get out of the foreclosure that you are in. THen look for a house with a Mother In Law Apartment with its own entrance (very important). Then simply draw up a rental agreement with your brother and have him rent from you. This way you can give him what ever rent he can afford...and you don't have so much liability. Then when he is ready to buy a house on his own, you would have the apartment to rent out to someone else.
If I did this though, I would hire a property manager to take care of the rent and everything...to try to keep you and your brother as seperate as possible. This is usually even not a good idea...to do business with family but, some people can make it work.
What ever you choose...just make sure you consider all the legal ramifications of your decision...it would be horrible to be stuck in a mortgage that you can barely afford in the event of job loss or simply plain bad luck. |

You couldn't pay for the first house and now you want to screw another bank? |

You might- call and ask. Two people unrelated can get a loan together and as long as your not on any of your husband's paper work- you might be OK. But you can't afford a loan that big- you need to be looking a a 150,000 house if not cheaper. |

Absolutely not! You and your husband need to get out of this mess and work together to get good credit and buy your new house together. |

Talk to the bank and/or a lawyer to see if it is legally possible. |

Well it really Depends on who is going to live in it. If your Marred do you plan on taking your hubby with you to live in the same home as your Stepbrother, Most of the time it is not a good idea to move family in with each other. Remember your hubby is beeing forclosed on now.
If your gitting a divorce and want to move in with your stepbrother then as long as he can make his half of the bills and part of the house payment I see no problem with that.
The way it sounds you need to say goobby to hubby if he can't pay his bills and move on. |
