If I move out in the middle of the month, do I have to pay for the rest of the month?
I just gave my room mate and my landlord 30 days notice My room mate and I pay $1050 in which I pay half. My question is if move out in the middle of the month, do i have to pay pay for the full month? Its a month to month agreement. Thanks in advance......

Here is how month to month tenancies work. Not only are you responsible for the balance of the month, you are responsible for the next month as well.
A notice doesn't go into effect the day it is given. It goes into effect on the 1st day of the next month. Say I give my notice today (July 16) and move out tomorrow. I'm still responsible for the balance of July and for all of August. This is the reason why: By law I don't have to give my notice until midnight of the last day of the month, in this case July 31. It goes into effect on August 1 and I have until the end of August to move out and the landlord has a whole month to re-rent the suite.
In your case, your room mate will be left holding the bag if you don't pay up.

uh yeah thats generally how it works.

With month to month agreement, 30 days advance notice must be 30 days in advance of date rent is due, not just 30 days
And rent is paid in advance for a full month
Moving out before month ends entitles you to nothing, unless there is a separate agreement like if a new roommie is replacing you at that time

Yes you pay the full month even if you move out early but you caan keep the key to the end of the month

Chris
yes, and if you are moving out in the middle, you have to pay for the whole month.

If you gave 30 days notice and the 30 days ends in the middle of the month you MAY only have to pay for half of the month. It all depends on the lease. Pay for the half of the month and if the landlord gets angry, decide if you want to pursue it further.
