Contact your local council before you do anything. If the roots for the hedge go onto your property then you can cut it down yerself!!! |

Hi!
You need to get a solicitor to look into the land boundaries, either from your Title Deeds or the Land Registry.
You may then need to go on to get planning permission before the wall is built.
Hope this helps!
Best of luck! |

If you own the house look at the deeds to see where your land extends to. You can not move the wall if it goes on to the neighbours land.
Best thing to do would be to have a solicitor look at the papers relating to your house and get advice.
If your neighbours shrubs or hedge is growing over your land you can cut it back but must give the bits back to the neighbours. Very weird but that's the law. |

Good finance question! I know of an organization that gives up to $1500 to people to help them with their rent or mortgage. It's available in most US cities, I highly suggest you check it out.

you can only touch what's lying on your property,
but better check local authorities, imo neighbor can be intimidated with a little piece of paper from the gov't agency. |

Your property will have strictly laid out plans which you can obtain from the council, this will settle where your land begins and their land ends. Therefore, if you find their hedge is on your land, you can have it cut back, that way you don't need to pay them anything. **** them. |

Before you do anything you need to be sure who actually owns the walkway.
If you are in the UK - do you have the title deeds? If not, you can get them from the HMRC website, for a small charge. These might not be absolutely clear, and if in any doubt it may well be worth speaking to a solicitor about it. It could be very costly if you start doing things on what turns out to be shared land, or land you don't own!
Indeed, if you have to live next to these people I think it might be worth persevering with speaking to them first! It will definitely sour relations if you just start building. |

Start by reading your deed and having the property line surveyed. |

You'll have to find where your property line ends and begins and once you find that you can do whatever you want. The property line you can find on the internet or at your county building. You tried to be nice but do what you need to do. These people sound a little shaky so be careful!! lol
By the way, who shovels it in the winter and spends their money on salting it? |
