mummy one1 | If my apartment is being worked on,and i cant stay there is my landlord entitled to the full rent.? |
|
|

Bard S
|
Why is your apartment being worked on?
Who intiated the work?
If you are being put out because of his repairs to the building, then I would say no.
If you are being put out to repair damage you caused, or for something you have intitiated, then yes he is. If you had a fire, your renter's insurance should cover him for his LOSS OF INCOME.

Depends....
1. Is it that you "can't" stay or is it that you don't want to stay?
2. has the landlord provided you with other accommodations?

Are you saying that you don't want to stay there, or has your landlord asked you to stay somewhere else while the repairs are being made?
If what is being repaired is not something that you broke, and your landlord has asked you to stay some place else while this is happening then he should pro-rate your rent for the days that you cannot stay. If you caused the damage that he is repairing then it would be way out of line for your to ask for rent relief while the repairs are being made.
If you want to stay somewhere else then it is up to you to pay for it. |

Did you ask you landlord? That might be the first step
Check your lease/ see if anything is stated/ if not contact your local housing authority/ Or try Googling renter's rights... You may find your answer there.
I think it may depend why your apartment is being worked on/ such as:
Is it something you caused/ are they renovating?
Hope this is helpful/ all states have different laws. |

Yes - you must pay full rent and they are required to provide alternate housing. |

Depending on where you live and if you have a rental agreement, the landlord is required to put you up somewhere equal to what your living in now. And yes you do have to pay the rent. You both are bound by law. |

i'd say no but i would talk to a lawyer before you do anything. |

yes. an apartment is still there and in need of rent paid by the owner, regardless if it is being used or not |
|

YES WE DID!!!

not unless he can put you in another apartment |

It depends. Did you start the fire? |

No. |

My guess would be no, but it probably depends on the State you live in. |

i would say yes they are entitled to full rent but i do not know this for sure. i think it has alot to do with the state you live in and your renters rights. but at least they are working on it. if they do not fix things that need fixed then that is where im sure you would be entitled to a discount rent. at least thats how it goes here in ohio |
|

JoJo
 |
NOOOOOOO and also you are being inconvenienced? You should've lived rent free this month |
|

shovelhead_greg
|
Well hell no! If you really can't stay there, then those days should at least be deductible from the rent, if not more. Like an alternative place to sleep. |
|

MadDog
 |
hell no. your rent should be prorated for the time that you actually are there. and if he cant fix it within reasonable time you can cancel your lease too! |
