A Power of Attorney is only a document stating that you can act in his place as him, it is primarily used for military families when a service member deploys and the spouse may need to do something at home. Having a power of Attorney does not make you liable for his debts, it only states that you can act in his place if the place you are using it accepts the Power of Attorney.
There are 2 kinds, a Specific and General, a general gives the power to do anything with the person name as if you were them, a Specific is made up to state specift things that individual is allowed to do. All of this is dependant on weather the place you attempt to use a Power of Attorney at will acept it, there is no legal requirement that they must accept you using it. Hope this helps, Good Luck. |

Yes, there is a paper you can sign, but it is not a POA. It is called a Divorce Decree and Terms of Settlement. |

I must say that you are in a very unpleasant situation. In my opinion you must ask for legal advise.
If your husband is leaving the country for good yo must see that all official documents you will be needing in the future are in order.
If you intend to sell the house in his absence but with his consent you have to get a legal power of attorney declaring this clearly otherwise you will be in trouble
In the meantime you can still pay the mortgage,if this is in your interest to do so. |

my future ex wife would be the last person I would give power of attorney to, but there are 2 different types of POA. One is a special power of attorney, and it applies to specific items, so if you want to sell the house he can give you special power of attorney to act in his name ONLY to sell the house. You wouldn't be able to legally sell his car for example, or take money out of his account legally. |

a power of attorney can give what you want it to give, but I don't see why him ;eaving the county would make him unable to pay the mortgage. It's called U.S. Mail, or PAY PAL Online. But it doesn't seem like you would need his permission top make a payment on the house for him. Are you really tryinmg to take the house? |

Power of Attorney means that you can legally sign for him in any matter that he gives permission for in the POA. Since you are getting a divorce, it might not be in his best interest to do this. He might be able to transfer the house to your name if the mortgage company agrees. After all, they don't have title but they actually own it until the mortgage is paid off. If you both agree to sell the house, he could give you POA to represent him in the sale and specify what to do with his half of the money left after mortgage and expenses are paid. |

Yes he can if he wishes to do so and you are only responsible for paying the bills if there is enough money in the account and if you wish to do so. |

Absolutely. See your attorney, it will have to be initiated by him/her anyway. Make sure it gives you what you need. A poorly worded POA can be challenged easily in court, must be very specific. |

yes he can give you power of attorney and yes you would be responsable for bills . at least thats the case with my mother in law and her elderly father |
