Depends on your state as to how you take title, but yes.
In community property states, (Arizona, California, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin) the puchasing spouse takes title to the property as "Your Name, a married person as their separate property". The other spouse must sign a Quit Claim Deed as part of the closing process & it's recorded.
Not sure how it would work in common law states. |

Yes, you can. But the spouse still has ownership rights if you were to pass away. It can get ugly if there's step children involed or any surviving heirs. |

In some states your spouse automatically gets a legal right to live in any house you live in and that clouds the title if they refuse to sign that right away when you sell.
In most common law states this house will end up being commonly owned by both of you because you will likely use "common funds" to make payments or pay for upkeep or property taxes or such.
But in every state of the US that I am aware of you could buy the house with your name only on title if you have the cash or can qualify for the loan on your own. |

Yes, ask the title company to do a "DICLAIMER DEED" your spouse will have to "Disclaim" the home you are buying for yourself. |

Your credit histories are mingled so getting a loan is no easier and any divorce court will award your spouse a full share of the assets, so what is the point? |
