If you own land does that mean you own it till the center of the earth?
So lets say you have a piece of land, so its yours right everything that connects to it within the radius of you deed or what ever but the deed does not specify underground i mean technically its still part of your land right?

Land is real estate and real estate goes all the way to the center of the Earth, everything down there is called mineral rights. You also own everything above it as well, all the way to infinity. Air traffic can still pass through the air above though. But unless your deed states that you only own the suface rights, you own all the way to the Earth's core.

tomtom
no, and you don't own the airspace either.

Just me
I say yes, you could dig a hole on your property as deep as you want and no one could say anything to you right.

Diet Soylent Green
I would say so, because you can dig a pool on your own property and still call it your own. That's kind of a funny question! Really makes me think. Haha

Ron Berue
Wrong. It all depends what the customs are in the area where that land is. AND ESPECIALLY if the mineral rights are excluded in that property's deed.

Its best to GO TO THE COUNTY COURT HOUSE where that property iocated. Ask one of the clerks working behind the counter to see and possibly get a copy of that deed for that particular property. Yes, there will be a charge.

After reading it and perhaps getting a copy, if you're still not sure, ask one of the folks doing title work for another property.

The very worst answer you might get is a flat "No". Other than in love and romance, "No" never hurt any one.

If you want, its OK to "tip" some money to the person who helped you for his/her opinion and expertise.

I wish you well.

VTY,

Ron B.

Sorry, you need it to specifically state you have the mineral and water rights. If a stream flows through it, you might not be allowed to take the water from it or divert it to make a pond/lake. Go to or write your county courthouse for a specific answer since every state has different laws.

Boomer
You own the land to the center of the earth. You also own the land upholding to the outer reaches of the ends of the stratospheres above it.
