Your boyfriend is a great peice of work isn't he.
He gets you pregnant and then tells you to give up your job so others can pickup the bill - what a great example to society he is.
BTW - if you voluntarily leave employment you get nothing. |

WHAT? Why on earth would you quit your job to live a life on benefits what kind of example will that be setting for your child when it comes into the world? We all have to pay our way in the world and if you cannot afford to support a child you should not be having it - its not as if we are suffering a population crisis and your pregnant for the good of the country is it?
the benefits system is there to help people who are truly in need and people who cannot be bothered to work have completely ruined it.
If you are better off on benefits than in your work alone then your boyfriend should be working two jobs to make sure that you have enough money when the baby comes along - come on girl - sort yourself out. |

Do you mean, "would you still be Entitled?" I don't know, but maybe they'll say if you had a job, why would you leave? You're pregnant, not handicapped. You're doing it to get a home for free or for dirt cheap, not because you don't already have a job and you can't get one. Man-up, and tell your boyfriend to man-up as well. You're going to be parents, and this is the way you want to teach your child? Quit, and you'll be given a hand-out.
Come on. There's people in greater need out there. You'll get help either way when you have a child. If you don't have insurance, you'll get prenatal care. What's the problem? |

if you voluntarily leave your job you will be entitled to nothing for six months, and thereafter a low priority case, or so i believe. |

If you QUIT your job, you won't be entitled to anything for 6 months.
And even then, it's a pain int he *** to sort it all out and get everything to go the way it's supposed to.
Benefits are there for people who can't get jobs.
The onyl way around the 6 month wait would be for your doctor sign you off on "incapacity". |

Why So Serious?

Stop looking to take advantage of the system. Sounds like your boyfriend and you are real winners. Tell him to get another job if needed to have the money to support you and the baby.
This town needs an enema. |

having a baby is no reason to quit your job.
why should we pay because you are having a baby.
get your low life boyfriend to look after you . so we don't have to pay for your mistakes |

Don't quit your job yet. I had to give up work when I became pregnant on doctor's advice - it was either work or the baby. Even then it was a battle to get anything - I had officials doing the 'preganancy isn't an illness' act on me - even while in hospital. It got straightened out in the end but you are opening a massive can of worms by quitting unnecessarily.
Before you make any decisions, find out what you would be entitled to and your rights - don't take your boyfriend's word for it ie, are you under 25? different rules apply until the baby is born. Is your boyfriend living with you - is he working? You have to think this out for yourself. Also how pregnant are you? When does your maternity leave start?etc etc. |

If you choose to quit your job then you arent entitled to anything until a certain amount of time has passed, it doesnt matter that you are pregnant and you and your boyfriend should be ashamed for even thinking that your entitled to anything at all. There is no excuse for you not to work and pay your way, your only pregnant, not disabled. Keep your job and pay rent like everyone else does. |

Unless there is a medical reason for leaving then you will not be entitled to benefits immediately. I think it is 6 weeks. However if your b/f is joining you and is working then his wage will be taken into consideration. |

Hi I work for the Benefits agency and can tell you that no you would not be entitled to benefits if you quit your job. You would have to apply for Job Seekers Allowance and you would be put on suspension for upto 26weeks because you chose to leave your job. Even if you were entitled it takes a while to sort out benefits, you'd have to wait for your claim to JSA to be sorted then wait for Housing Ben to be sorted too and it's unlikely any landlord would take you on when this can take upto 6 weeks! What is your boyfriends situation, does he work?? Are you living together now? |
