If you rent out a house does the renter need to know how much the morgage actually is?

Additional Details
Not what they will be paying but how much you are paying for the actual morgage or can you hike the price a bit without telling them?

You don't need to tell them how much the mortgage is. Even if you did, they would have to understand that there are property taxes, insurance, maintenance, etc costs above the actual mortgage payment.

Landlord
Why would you tell them? It is none of their business.

I have been a landlord for many years, and I have NEVER been asked about the mortgage payment from a tenant.

All they need to know is how much rent you will be charging, as well as the deposit amount and if it is refundable. There are always other factors when you rent a house, such as maintenance, insurance, and of course, profit. I think it is all about how much the renter thinks the house is worth. Good Luck!

The renters only need to know what the monthly rent is.

no, they only need to know how much rent you are charging

Grisham
The renter doesn't NEED to know, but they can easily find out, it's public information.

As an investor, not one single tenant has asked me how much the mortgage is. Either it makes sense for them to pay the rent I'm charging, or it doesn't. What my financial situation is does not concern them.

No, the mortgage has Nothing to do with the rent. Even if the home is paid off and there is no mortgage, you can charge the rent that you want...

no that is none of thier business.

reenzz
As long as the tenant is willing to pay...you can charge whatever rental rate you choose. It has absolutely nothing to do with what you pay on your mortgage and is none of the tenants business.
