Interesting question. Who is more likely to go over the details of your basement? Your landscaping? Maintenance issues? Who will tell you that your peach and teal color scheme is outdated? Who is more likely to say get rid of those dust-collecting silk flowers? It's not nice to generalize, because a professional will address the most important issues. In a business where attention to detail counts, you still have to watch out for a Realtor who just tells you what you want to hear. |

i would go with someone who you trust first and foremost. male/female would enter less into the equation.
though i've never bought and sold a house that's my initial thought. |

I would go with a female. They are usually more aggressive when it comes to Realtors. |

I will prefer who give me more money. No matter whether retailer is male or female. |

I would definately go with a Female relator because there are a lot of reason-
- Female can explain the things in better way and most of the customers would listen females as compare to male realtors. |

Why would you discriminate on the basis of Gender? Why so prejudiced? Why not just look at performance ratings of all agents? Or, ask for references from friends who can recommend a reliable professional? |

Very interesting Question:
I am myself a male Realtor, so I'd like to answer. I bet you are going to say I have some kind of a bias. Here are my views and knowledge both.
One point well taken, in Real Estate females make the most Real Estate sales in Residential Real Estate. Not so much because of their sex appeal (as someone has answered) or may be.
But now come off that excuse, when a family goes to buy houses how much chance does that appeal have when a couple is buying a home. Yes, I'd buy the argument when a single male is buying a home.
But when a couple is purchasing a home, if a female Realtor is representing them as a buyers agent, guess who she communicates well with? The wife of-course. Two sensitive females will communicate well and the female Realtor closes the transaction much more easily as compared to a male.
At the same time the male is more likely to be value conscious and tries to sell based on a value proposition or a strategy. At the same time they are physically much more aggressive, if one has to go into a crawl space, it will be a male not a female. Males might tend to be more engineering oriented whereas females are great at aesthetics.
Females own transactions very well, while males might lack the hand-holding at times.
All the same, I have seen females and males both doing great business.
You should be considering these factors once you have first found out if both the Realtors you are trying to contract is equal in all other respects. Volume of transactions. Their Corporate background, their designations, their network, their execution and their presentation skills. Of top consideration should be their technical abilities and negotiation skills.
Just think, if you just go for one sex or the other and the one you have selected is not even 10% of the other in credentials, will that person do justice?
What matters to you? The transaction or the gender??? |

female realtor. Men seem to be a little overbearing in the sales process unless (no offense to anyone) they are gay. men forget often that there are two people making the decision often times. This is why women make better sales people than men. |

females definately have been known to make more money in this business... its the sex appeal, and the fact that they pay attention to all the little details : ) |

We used a man realtor that was a "friend" -he did nothing to sell our house except tell us what needed to be cleaned/put away/ gotten rid of. Was of no help whatsoever! Switched to a lady realtor -she has real expectations, she showed us what we can do, very thorough and didnt get angry or short with us. We have had 8 showings in less than 2 weeks with her at the helm, we had 0 showings in 3 months with the man.
Female realtors are alot better! |
